About My Library

The library of John and Margery Kenning Knowlton of Ipswich, Massachusetts is documented in the joint probate inventory of their estate, taken 3 March 1654. It includes "one great Byble," valued at 10 shillings; "a broad booke of Mr. Bifields workes," valued at 4 shillings; "9 other bookes & bibles," also located "in the Hall," valued at 15 shillings, for a total in books of £1/9 out of an estate valued at £158/15/3.

Margery Knowlton, in her will dated 20 February 1654, leaves to her son John "my great Byble."
