My library consists of many unread and partially read books. The unread books are either left over from my days as a Master's student, during which I was assigned a seemingly never-ending stream of books that simply did not interest me, or are part of the collection I've built up of books that do interest me, and that I'm in the process of getting around to reading. The partially-read books result from my tendency to give up on a book as soon as I feel it's not for me. I read simply for the enjoyment that great books deliver, so when I'm not enjoying a book, I stop reading it and move on to another.

As finicky as this may seem, there are, nonetheless, plenty of books that I absolutely love. I'm particularly fond of nineteenth-century novels, and also enjoy modern writing that is Victorianesque in style. I appreciate anything that is especially well-written. I've recently become interested in contemporary historical fiction, but I also enjoy the occasional postmodern or experimental work.
