Member Pat-Murphy

I'm an author. I write fiction -- mostly science fiction and fantasy, but one children's book. My latest novel is The Adventures of Mary Darling, a subversive take on Peter Pan and Sherlock Holmes. (Did you know that Mary Darling, mother to the children who fly away with Peter, is John Watson’s niece? Few people do.) That novel will be out from Tachyon Publications in May 2025. My past works include The Falling Woman (winner of the Nebula Award for novel), "Rachel in Love" (winner of the Nebula Award for Novella), "Bones" (winner of the World Fantasy Award for Novella), and Points of Departure (short story collection, winner of the Philip K Dick Award). Much of my fiction inhabits the borderland between genres, where life is interesting and the rules are slippery. I live in Nevada, on the edge of the Mojave Desert, and I share my backyard with roadrunners, rabbits, quail, and an occasional coyote.
