Hello! Welcome to the St. Mary of Vernon Children's Library!
My name is Belen, and I am creating this library as my Girl Scout Gold Award project.
I attended public schools growing up. Although I was exposed to many wonderful books, I rarely saw any Catholic faith books. Even at my local public library there were very few to be easily seen. This is probably the case for many Catholic children, if they do not see the books, they will not read them.
With this library, I am trying to address the issue of children not having an opportunity to be exposed to Catholic faith books. I believe that having a Catholic children's library is important because they provide wholesome literature that helps children develop a strong foundation in their faith and values; and to develop a connection to God and a desire to be an ambassador for Christ.
