Simon Robb has spent most of his life being a father, a researcher and an English language teacher for newly-arrived migrants to Australia. His earlier works include the experimental history The Hulk, which was shortlisted for the Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature. At the University of South Australia, he led a research project on marginalised youth, resulting in the book Hope. He has also produced documentary features for ABC Radio and published in Jacket Magazine. His latest work, Alien Situations, is a story of survival in a time of dystopian violence. Drawing on gothic fiction and surreal sci-fi horror, the novella examines the choices people need to make in an era of unaccountable power.
