My library has been built over the last 35 years . I started collecting books when I was 8 years old and when I was a class VI student . It started with paperback comics - Amar Chitra Katha series, Chandamama- and childhood reads such as paperbacks by Enid Blyton, Alfred Hitchcock & 3 investigators, Hardy Boys, James Hadley Chase, Biggles etc.

Over a period spanning decades, I have moved on and now have a fairly sizeable collection.

The range of books include medical books to fiction and non fiction - self help, philosophy, spirituality, science, history,geography, photography , genealogy.

I have , over the years managed to accumulate quite a large number of books - many of which I still have to read....

I have inculcalted the reading habit in my daughter and have been buying her books from a very young age. I have included all the books which I have purchased for her in this library as well.

I am a cardiothoracic surgeon (a heart and lung surgeon) currently working in Chennai - having trained in England.I am very passionate about my profession and have always wanted to be a surgeon from my childhood days.

When I am not operating , I have a variety of interests - topping the list ,of course, is BOOKS. I read and own books covering a wide range of subjects. - Fiction - humor, thriller, murder series, Non--Fiction , Science, Philosophy,history

Amongst my favorites , the top would be books by PG Wodehouse- which sometimes I have read more than 10 times over the years. The one book which comes to my mind is "Leave it to Psmith" - the plot and literary style always evokes the same outburst of loud laughter which it did years ago and is one of the best "pick-me-ups".

I have this passion about owning books and my favourite passtime - when i get some- would be to loose myself in a bookshop for hours on end. It used to be initially Higgibbothoms at Mt.Road ,Chennai. Now it is Landmark Book store - since that is closer to work and home.

I have just signed up with Librarything and have got a long road ahead to get my library books updated on line......
