Thomas Deacon's small library is documented in his York County, Virginia probate inventory, taken in 1648: "A Bible, ye practice of piety, a testament & a small p[ar]cell of other bookes all old," valued at 60 pounds of tobacco (the entire estate was estimated at 19343 pounds of tobacco).
Deacon's inventory was published in the William & Mary Quarterly series of "Libraries in Colonial Virginia" (January 1895, p. 181).
