About My Library

My library is best described as a home-grown collection of stuff I've read over a lifetime. I've always been a reader. There was a bookcase or book shelves in each of my bedrooms (we moved about), even as a child. Those two or three shelves have grown to a library of well over 2,000 volumes—which I'm still adding to LibraryThing.

These days, I almost exclusively purchase hardcover volumes. I have several authors and series in collection, including a complete set of the first 40 Hardy Boys books—as early a printing as I can find for any title, including a few of the red cover, first printings from the first eleven titles; almost complete sets of books by David Baldacci, Orson Scott Card, Ken Follet, Michael Crichton, and Robert Ludlum as well as full sets of Dan Brown, Tom Clancy, John Grisham, and the Dragon Tattoo series. I have over two dozen novels from the early 20th century from the Boy Scouts series. I have a bunch of L'Amour books, and maybe someday I'll get back to collecting more. I've recently been reading Kristin Hannah and Lisa Gardner. I'm flirting with reading/collecting the Alex Cross series by James Patterson. I read a fair amount of early American fiction and historical fiction, too.

I also read a lot of nonfiction, business-oriented books on leadership, team-building, strategy, and the economy. I have several biographies and histories I enjoyed a lot. I have textbooks from my undergraduate studies as an English major / Political Science minor at BYU and from my MBA program at the University of Utah. I enjoy books by Malcolm Gladwell, Thomas Friedman, Charles Pellegrino, and Ben Sasse.

At some point, I'll begin adding to LibraryThing the young adult books I've collected through the years.

You can derive a bit about me by reading the description of my library, I suppose.
