About My Library
I have three books in the Grace Coffin Series, as well as the mini-book, "The Grace Coffin Songbook."
"Grace Coffin and the Badly-Sewn Corpse" is easy to dismiss as a light zombie-tale, but it is poignant, funny, and philosophically potent. Grace is trying to leap into adulthood, but she keeps tripping over her unpacked baggage. She is harassed at school by some popular boys, and the resulting fracas precipitates a #MeToo revival at Mount Desert Island High. She falls for the sweet boy next door and the two of them become embroiled in the mystery of their dead neighbor.
Cormac was a good guy, but now he's dead, killed in a car crash caused by his neighbor, who was texting and driving. He comes back for revenge, but his conscience must temper that into justice, a difficult balancing act while he experiments unsuccessfully with self-embalming.
The next book, "Grace Coffin and the Undertakers" follows Grace and her boyfriend Oliver in their pursuit to form a Goth Rock band. Their songs attract unwanted attention from the religious right and the Undead left, and threaten to sunder the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead. Meanwhile, Cormac journeys to Mount Hope Cemetery to collect his wife's remains and finds much more than he bargained for.
About Me
I am a writer from Southwest Harbor, Maine, where I live with my spouse and pets. I was inspired to write the Grace Coffin books because so many people I know have had a difficult start in life and I wanted to inspire them to overcome their circumstances and play a better hand than the one they were dealt.
