- About My Library
All titles that appear are books I own (or owned). The partially cataloged collections appearing under user name armc2 are my nonbook media. My sister tells me my library is idiosyncratic; I will accept her descriptor and pretend that it is a compliment.
I wish I could say that I have read everything on my shelves, as I would certainly like to. Instead, my collections represent the aspirations of what I would like to read and like to know. They reflect my interests, but remain an imperfect mirror of myself.
- About Me
I have always thought the most interesting thing about me to be those around me, and even after reaching the age of retirement, I cannot say that that has ever changed. I am the child of a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam whose encyclopedic knowledge related to many interests within and beyond his work was awe-inspiring; and of a lovely, outgoing individual whose personality and lifelong ability to befriend and engage with others were nothing like my own. I am the sibling of an independent artist and equestrian; a naval EOD specialist who worked with mines, marine mammals, and SEALS before taking his skills to civilian life; and a materials engineer whose carbon fiber creations were like strange cakes risen from a mad scientist’s oven. I am the grandchild of an amazing centenarian whose roots in the nineteenth century continue to fascinate me and of a cantankerous engineer who endowed a number of his children and grandchildren with similar gifts for independence and intelligence. In myself, I am little. In those who have been the structure of my life, I have been blessed with riches beyond price.
