These are two of the three focus films in his “Chaplin’s War Trilogy (1), ” with “Monsieur Verdoux” finishing the trio. (MOMA’s 2014 program has been examining films in relationship to the First World War (1), which began a 100 years age (1), and is the subject of Chaplin’s “Shoulder Arms” and the opening quarter hour of “The Great Dictator.”) (1)
