This book can be used to open children's minds to the idea that there are multiple languages out there other than just the one or two they may be aware of. (1), I chose this book because I have seen Olivia the pig before on TV (1), I chose this book before I ever read it (1), because the title and cover page got my attention. I would use this in my classroom to talk about the different types of ways people like to sleep. Do you sleep with a blanket? A pillow? A sheet? How are you most comfortable? (1), I chose this book because it promotes positivity. I would use this in my classroom for that same purpose - to talk about and promote a positive atmosphere. (1), I chose this book because I've read it before with two and three year olds (1), and it opened a great door for us to be able to look at the clouds and talk about what we saw. I would use this in my classroom to supplement a bug/insect thematic lesson (1), because it teaches about the life cycle of honeybees and the production of honey. I chose this book because this series was one of my favorites when I was a kid. I would use this book for a lesson on talking about the types of families there are (1), and celebrating the differences of the families in my classroom. (1), I love this book because it shows a variety of foods that some children may not have previously been aware of. The main reason I chose this book however (1), was because I could use it to teach a lesson on the lifecycle of a caterpillar (1), and how it turns into a butterfly. It also could provide great benefits for teaching about being caring to those around us. (1), I personally do not love this book (1), because the style isn't my favorite. I used this in the 3rd grade classroom and loved the open and honest responses I received. (1), I chose this book because the Berenstain Bears were a childhood favorite of mine. I could use this book to talk about the different ways that people may or may not celebrate for Halloween (1), and how that makes our world special and diverse. (1), I chose this book because it is by the same people who came up with If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (1), which I always loved. In addition to that (1), it talks about jack-o-lanterns (1), and the different faces they have. This could be used during the Fall season (1), and the class could create our own pumpkin craft to put in the classroom (1), with a description underneath about how our jack-o-lantern is feeling based on the face it is given. (1), I chose this book because it talks about a variety of costumes (1), and because Corduroy was always a favorite of mine when I was little. I could use this book to talk to my class about the different types of costumes that are out there (1), and we could talk about what their favorites are. This could also be used to come up with a fun creativity craft (1), where they are able to create a character and costume of their own and write a short story about their day in the costume. (1), I chose this book because it is an older set of stories (1), the kids are getting to read about something they enjoy (1), and it is a collection of very cute short stories. I would use this book in my classroom to talk about and promote the value of being a good friend. (1), I chose this book because it is a book that has different illustrations than most books that children read currently. I would use this book to talk to the class about if they have ever seen snow (1), and if not (1), what they think it might be like. This would be a perfect lead in for a short story writing prompt. (1), I chose this book because it's different than the books I typically read. This book could be used to talk about bravery (1), and what it means to be courageous in a scary situation. (1), I chose this book because it is diverse in culture. It talks about a little girl from Pakistan (1), who is invited to her first American birthday party. It's a cute story (1), and it opens the eyes to diversity and acceptance. (1), I chose this book because it was a cute and fun story about a little girl who makes an honest mistake (1), and because I could relate to it. This book can be used to teach children about the cultural differences in our world (1), and can be used to discuss what it's like to make bad choices or make mistakes (1), and something that is fun and relative to life outside of school. (1), and so even though it is an educational book (1), and how much diversity it represented. (1), or what they think it might be like to have one. (1), and how each character sees the other. I chose this book because I read it to my two year old classroom a while back (1), and it really helped them think about how the ant was feeling. The next time we played outside (1), they were careful not to squish the bugs because of this book. (1), this story offers the viewpoint of the classic story from the point of view of the wolf. I chose this book because I appreciate that the story was told from a point of view that is out of the ordinary. (1), where the story could be changed to be written from the fish's point of view. It could also be used to teach about rhyming and syllables. I chose this book because I loved it as a child. (1), and acceptance of those that are different than we are. I chose this book because it shows the differences between each fish (1), and it shows that it is important to share and think about the feelings of others. (1), I chose it because it is a great book in terms of using it to teach letter-sound correspondence. (1), I chose this book because it was a childhood favorite of mine! This book could be used to talk about the different types of jobs that teachers have (1), as well as the topic of a substitute. Literacy circles could be developed out of the topic of substitutes (1), and the children could discuss if they've ever had one (1), I chose this book because it never fails to make me smile and laugh (1), and could be used to work on counting skills. I also really like this book because it is Halloween themed (1), and I want the children in my classroom to be able to do the same. This book could be used to talk about patterns (1), discussion of animals (1), as well as using as a prompt or model for children to create their own story similar to the pattern shown in this one. (1), This book could be used to teach the concept of circle book patterns. I chose this book because I always loved it as a child (1), and I still love it to this day! (1), The main reason that I chose this book is because I read it to my two year old classroom a while back (1), and it really helped some of the kids with their separation anxiety. I would want to use this book in my future classroom for that same topic - to discuss separation (1), and to discuss the love that our families have for us. (1), I chose this book because it is a classic (1), and I don't know anyone who hasn't read or heard about this book! This book could be used to teach patterns (1), as well as animal sorting and recognition. (1), I chose this book because it is a counting book (1), and why. (1)
