- About My Library
I love used books more than anything else. I want to see a little kid scribbling their name on the endpapers, I want to see notes people have made in the margins, I want to see notes from loved ones when they gave the book to someone as a gift. I love being reminded the history behind each book and how many hands held it before it came to my collection.
You may notice my collection is heavy on children’s books— I do have a background as a preschool teacher but I also am a very nostalgic and sentimental person in general. I love adding old children’s books to my collection because they survived managed to all the sticky icky kids and I think there’s a unique beauty in that.
When I’m looking for books to add to my collection, here’s what I keep in mind:
1. All my homies hate mass-market paperbacks and movie covers.
2. The older the better, but structural integrity is important. I avoid books that are actively falling apart but adore books that have been written in and loved.
3. Any and all Alice in Wonderland, please and thank you, but especially anything pre-21st century. My white whale is any 1800s edition.
