About My Library
Much of the fiction is mystery and crime, classic and current, with classic humor (Benchley, Thurber, Perelman) taking second place. Non-fiction is divided among theater history and essays (I was a theater critic for nearly twenty years), film history (a film critic for six years, volumes devoted to language, heavy on slang, and research.
About Me
I'm the author of a list of crime novels including SLEEPING DOG which won the Nero Wolfe Award, was nominated for the Edgar, the Shamus and the Anthony, and was named one of the 100 Favorite Mysteries of the Century by the Independent Booksellers Association. My most recent novels are the noir thriller, BLUES IN THE NIGHT and THE TALK SHOW MURDERS which I co-authored with the Today Show's Al Roker. I've co-authored two previous crime novels with Al and four with attorney Christopher Darden. I've also written screenplays for such actors as Jodie Foster, Martin Sheen and Roger Moore.
