About My Library

A multilingual collection in Norwegian, Spanish, and English, centred on canonical European literary fiction. Particular attention to edition quality and translator fidelity — tracking Spanish translations of Knausgård, Proust, Balzac, Flaubert, and Henry James alongside their originals.

I’m drawn to literature that takes time seriously — long, immersive works built around consciousness, psychology (especially women), memory, and the quiet weight of ordinary life. Writers who look hard at the world before they write about it.

My reading life doesn’t sit alone: it runs alongside a practice in classical drawing, a deep interest in world cinema, and a love of music that spans fado to experimental electronic. These things talk to each other.

Currently learning Spanish through reading — which means edition choices matter twice over.

About Me

Reader drawn to the great 19th and early 20th century European and American novel—Flaubert, Balzac, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, James, Eliot, Wharton, Fontane, Zola, Proust.

Particularly interested in the intersection of literature and visual art, especially French Impressionism and the Boston School painters (Tarbell, Benson, Paxton, Sargent). Reading these novels as social and visual documents—how spaces, objects, light, clothing, and bodies reveal class, gender, and economic structures beneath beautiful surfaces.

Currently working through a sustained reading project connecting 19th-century fiction to its sociological context: consumer capitalism, the constraints of femininity, the performance of cultivation, and the ideology embedded in aesthetic refinement.

Also a practicing painter in the classical academic tradition, studying Boston School methodology, Bargue plates, and sight-size drawing. Reading and painting inform each other.

Languages: Norwegian, Spanish, English.
