About meFORMERLY atlargeintheworld

I have a background in Cultural Anthropology and Religious Studies. I've just embraced my calling as a birth groupie by becoming a doula while working towards certification as a childbirth educator and, eventually, midwife. If you know someone in the East Tennessee area who is pregnant, please send them my way!

I also run a wedding business with my mom here on our farm. It's a lot of work but it's so much fun and every day brings a new experience. Come check us out at https://www.facebook.com/SomethingOldWeddingsTN !

I read everything that crosses my path. I read classics, and children's lit, and popular novels, and textbooks, and crap (which I usually don't know is crap until I start, and then I just can't stop in case there is one redeeming moment). Most books that I really like, I read over and over and over. I hate it when people write in books... that's what book journals are for.

Favorite genres:
dark humor
light fantasy
children's lit
social sciences
series

About my libraryI used to try to hold onto every book that came my way since I was a kid, but that has changed. Now, I am trying to keep only books that really mean something to me, that I know I will reread, or that I want to have to share with kids. I've been sending lots and lots of books off to new homes and trying to find nice, hardback edition of the books I want to keep. I'm still failing miserably at diminishing the number of unread books I own, but I am getting much better at making realistic decisions about books I'm obviously NEVER going to get around to.

My books have finally gotten an upgrade! I finished my closet library!
