(1), very near the zenith of 90s theory/semiotics/etc (1), c. 1939 (I'm remembering) (1), the author had already predicted that the concept of 'TV' would either enrich or ruin civilization as previous generations knew it (cannot find the quotation in my old paperback (1), maybe YOU can find it online). He did not foresee the digital age (how could he??!!) which kind of negated the whole 40s-50s-60s 'TV' thing that he otherwise accurately described (1), AKA The Five Red Herrings (1)
