Enormous. I've collected books my entire life (and I'm past the half-century mark). Recently my housemates have acquired the books and bookshelves left over from a second-hand bookstore that went out of business some years ago, so we are (almost literally) *swimming* in books. I will only be cataloging my favorites and/or the most thought-provoking. The books we do not plan to keep are being given away through BookMooch.

I'll read just about anything, but my preferences run toward science fiction, literary fiction, world history (especially World War II in Europe as well as Asia), not to mention gardening and landscaping design, cookbooks (international cuisine), and cultural studies. I have lived overseas for chunks of my life, including Malaysia and Canada in childhood, and the Netherlands as an adult. In the U.S., "home" has been in Missouri, New Mexico, California, Texas, Illinois, Washington state, and Ohio . . . in that order. Professionally, I am interested in writing, writing instruction, sociolinguistics, and all manner of composition research.
