- Range 5 refers to the fifth level of RANGE READING that I have developed to organize children's literature. Range 5 is the level of books that are usually considered books of interest to 3rd through 5th grade readers. It is the level above simple beginning readers and chapter books. I have only listed those books that I think have merit to them (and not everything that I have read). Therefore, the five star system is a little different with a one star still representing a good title selection, but a five star rating is an outstanding book and one that I probably have bought for my own personal collection. This list was designed to help librarians and educator's find quality literature to share with young readers.
