- About Me
This summer I look Children’s Literature in which we learned types of children’s literature, various authors, and the numerous awards given to children’s literature. I have never taken a YA Literature course. Teaching third grade, I don’t really use YA literature. My biggest challenge is finding upper level books for some of my higher readers, which contains appropriate material for a nine year old.
I do not currently have a favorite YA author, but I am hoping that by reading the novels in this course I will find one.
I have two stepdaughters, ages 13 and 16. The oldest prefers realistic fiction books dealing with teenage topics. The youngest prefers anything written by Stephen King or dark poetry.
I am a member of CCBC-Net, which discusses ideas and issues concerning literature for children and young adults.
