- About My Library
Working library for law professor writing at the intersection of law, history, and theory, with an emphasis on justice and the rule of law in a world of more aggressive authority, more invasive technology and a more fragile natural world.
- About Me
I write about law and justice, history and theory, and how to use the law the way it is supposed to be used.
I study and write about life and law from the middle ages to the age of revolution, mainly but not always looking outward from Britain.
Sometimes I write about writing; I teach that to my upper - year law students.
I enjoy lexicography. Some folks say lexicography is addictive, but I can stop anytime I want, really.
I study differences and similarities between the law in different cultures and in different times. This is comparative law, which is fascinating regardless of the boring label.
I might be a tad overstretched, but I like science & technology, not just for what they help people do but also for how they explain the peoples that make them.
I teach and consult on a few discrete fields, particularly environmental law and environmental jurisprudence, constitutional law, the law of war, and the practice of law.
