- coming of age (1), allogory (1), but his triumph is glorious. (1), This is a story about an amazing man which Hillenbrand writes very well. WWII survivor that lives through hell to tell the tale. The story is very interesting and compelling. I had no idea how poorly outfitted our soldiers were and how dangerously ill equ (1), but I never really fell in love with it. It gets the stars for the amazing writing and insight but the characters were almost impossible to follow and the whole thing seemed written like it was a dream. (1), I thought this might be more like Geraldine Brooks People of theBook with a desk. But this one is SAD all the way through. Beautiful writing kept me going (1), Seeing your old world with new eyes after having changed. Torn between two worlds. How many immigrants experienced this?
