- About My Library
- My library reflects growing interests over time.
The first round features the political texts from my student days. These interests morphed into history, economics and biography.
I have always retained an interest in military history, and much of my collection reflect this.
More recently I've become interested in fiction. I enjoy works by Mordechai Richeler, Russell Banks, and William Kennedy.
Some fellows at work got me interested in espionage fiction got me reading Alan Furst, Eric Ambler, Graham Greene, and Len Deighton. I've written my own detective fiction and received a prize from a Canadian crime writers' festival.
I'm also a genealogist, and my collection reflects this past-time, with books chasing my family's activities in Scotland, South Africa and Australia. My great grandfather served in WWI with the Australian Light Horse, so my shelves are stocked with information about his regiment and the Battle of Gallipoli.
Finally, for lighter moments, I enjoy travel memoirs. I generally collect a few books each year detailing people's experiences in various locales. - About Me
- I'm Canadian, living in a narrow home on a quiet, tree-lined street in the heart of Canada's largest city. I was educated in Ottawa and Kingston, and I'm working in public affairs for our provincial government.
I have an insatiable curiosity which has shaped my library. My current interests are mainly family history and local history. I have uncovered my own family's history through Canada, US, UK, Africa and Australia. - Location
