My Fight / Your Fight (edition 2015)by Ronda Rousey (Author), Maria Burns Ortiz (Primary Contributor)I don't know what drew me in to this book initially, but I think this might be the book that sticks with me in 2016. First, it's a book that told me a lot of what I need to hear right now. Second, it taught me too care about things I don't understand. I feel life this book opened me up to exploring new ideas and listening to the ideas others put forth with greater respect. Finally, and ultimately, it reinforces what I feel about proving people wrong being the best form of revenge. I wouldn't call this book the highest literature, exactly, but it is a very interesting look at one of the most powerful fighters in the UFC today [man or woman]. Comparing this book to George St. Pierre's recent book is a study in contrasts - GSP is all about crafting the brand. Rousey is all about giving you a peek under the tent, warts and all. From stories about her smelly car to childhood fights to her family life this book was a fascinating - if quick - read. |
