The novel “City of Bones” by Cassandra Clare is a very interesting and captivating novel. If you don’t like vampiric novels, this novel would be sure to pull you into the world of Fantasy. City of Bones is the first novel of the Mortal Instrument series. It is about a normal girl living a normal life named Clary Fray. One night her best friend Simon and her went to a club called Pandemonium. There Clary accidently follow a group of three teenagers into a room, there, she witnesses another boy being murdered. She is terrified and tried to save the boy, but finding out that not only did the boy die, but he folded into himself and totally disappeared. She learns that not only does she have the power to see the 3 teenagers which are Shadow hunters, invisible to the human eye. She learns that she was now a part of the world she would never believe existed, involving Werewolves, Faeries, demons, vampires and shadow hunters.

One night her mum, Jocelyn, is kidnapped from their apartment by an ex shadow hunter named Valentine, he is hell bent on stealing the Mortal Cup, the Mortal cup is able to create more shadow hunters, to lead a war against the demons and keeping the human race pure. He believes that Jocelyn has the knowledge to where it is. With the help of her new friends, the shadow hunters, she sets on a journey to find her mum. In the process, she learns more and more about her and her family that she would never believe could ever happen. Leaving her wondering, show more would she ever live a normal life again?
The novel has an interesting twist, leaving the reader wanting to read more and more of the next books in the series. It is very different from Twilight, and in my opinion I think that the Mortal Instrument series totally beats the Twilight saga, because it contains not only romance but action, adventure and survival. show less

“The Vampire Academy” series by Richelle Mead has been a hair raising, heart beating and blood boiling adventure from killing queens to becoming a queen. The book is about not only vampires and blood sucking but also friendship, action and romance. It is a great novel compared to the other vampire books. I thought that the series of “Twilight” was very good but after I finished reading “The Vampire Academy” series I realised that it is much better than the Twilight series because the vampire academy series is for an audience that is mature and is interested in fantasy kind of genres.
This book is about a girl called Rose, her dad was unknown and her mum was so busy protecting her masters, she hardly saw Rose at all. Rose’s family was technically Lissa her childhood best friend. Her mentor Dimitri is a handsome Russian who Rose cannot keep her eyes off. Rules were that students and teachers were never meant to be. Knowing Rose she would already break the rules with no second thoughts. Rose is the main character throughout the series; she is a bold, strong, stubborn, respected kind of person. She is willing to do ANYTHING for her friends and family even if it means costing her own life. I STRONGLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy, romance and friendship kind of books. Don’t just read the first page and get bored but read a few chapters, I know you will enjoy this book because I know I have enjoyed every single bit of it. This book will indeed show more suck you into its world making you leave wanting more and wondering what happens next. show less
