Richard Fountain was a scholar who attended Cambridge University and later taught at a boys school in London (those nearly of age to apply and attend University). By all historical accounts that I have uncovered, Mr. Fountain was a beloved, approachable teacher who commanded an astounding intellect, had a remarkable memory, and an eye for scholastic opportunity to help his students. During his time away, whether on summer holiday or after his teaching duties had commenced for the day, he could be found at his typewriter, perfecting new curriculum materials to help his students achieve the highest marks prior to entering University.
It appears that Mr. Fountain wrote at least seven titles in total. For personal reasons, he had elected not to publish these works. I cannot understand why he did not because the level of erudition and the breadth of subject these titles span across is something not seen often if ever.
Out of these seven or so titles, I have acquired over the years a total of five manuscripts (one title contains two volumes; in which case FOUR titles, FIVE mss. is closer to the truth).

I am just beginning to wrap my mind around how to go about bringing Mr. Fountain's hard work into the public world. There are constraints at present day such as copyright law considerations not to mention an ethical show more dilemma around publishing his work. This is something that I have wrestled with for over three years and I believe Mr. Fountain went to great pains to craft these manuscripts and he had intended to move forward with publishing them for students under his guidance and everywhere to benefit. For whatever unforeseen reason, Mr. Fountain did not go forward with this intention as planned in his lifetime.
At a later time, I will reveal reasons I believe he did not publish these works as I have come to some understanding about things that transpired outside of his control and thrust him into the public eye in questionable light. He was exonerated completely, but as we all understand, the stain of accusations even when untrue can leave its mark and go so far as to break one's spirit for an extended time.
The titles I have acquired at the time of this writing include:
1. Twelfth Century Monasticism in the West (1967) - hand illuminated maps & fold out illustration
2. The History and Language of Ancient Egypt (1969) - hand illuminated hieroglyphs, motifs
3. The Second and Third German Reichs, Extracts on German History From 1871 to 1965. (London, 1966) - 2 vols *(several hand-drawn maps, plans and genealogies, includes typescript of Bernadotte E. Schmitt's 'Triple Alliance and Triple Entente' and Lewis Namier's 'Men Who Floundered into the War', essays by Richard Fountain and chronological tables of German history, 'Appendices' and bibliography).
4. The House of Borja: A Genealogical and Heraldic Study, Volume III (London, 1960) - unbound, extensive heraldic illuminations by hand, in color/gild. Includes copious hand written genealogical tables - large form, folded. All on foolscap, watermarked leaves which were produced at a British papermill during the time of title's production ("CROXLEY SCRIPT").

I am looking to acquire any and ALL papers, notes, typescripts/manuscripts whether bound or unbound. Titles still outstanding may include:
*Marcellus II and the Beginnings of Catholic Reformation

*Pope Calixtus III"
