Having read/reviewed Earth Logic, I was ready for another book in the Elemental Logic Series. Laurie J. Marks, the author, has another nine novels, but this series surpasses all of the others. I'm thrilled to have received this book to review, and the series will remain in my own personal library. Having a Master's Degree in English tells you how much I love the English language, and Marks does an excellent job with words. From the first page, I was delighted to finally find an author who knows how to use English to pull a person into each page.
Amid assumptions and rebellion, a new government of soldiers and farmers, all are longing for peace. Book Three is a delightful, feminist fantasy epic that you will enjoy. Don't miss reading this author's rendition of complex forces: power, desires and obligations. What a perfect gift of this series to a loved one who enjoys fantasies. Introduce them to a very talented Ms. Marks.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Very strong characters in this second boook of Shafta. Having a new ruler, Karis, the struggle for the world of Shaftal is far from over.
This squeal to "Fire Logic" by author Laurie J. Marks will inspire everyone to read the first book and to become admirers of this author.
This is a fantasy-themed book full of love, humor, war and intrigue. How the author's use of language makes this novel easy to visualize, unlike other political novels.
I recommend this book to all readers but alfor them to go bakc and read "Fire Logic".

This is one book I am keeping after reviewing it. It is gorgeous with all of the pictures and very informative about collectable eggs. This would be a perfect gift for someone interested in such a collection. Excellent photography.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Queen Solomon was a touch of de ja vu, as I entertained a teenager from another country and the intent did not go as I had hoped. His behavior was obnoxious, although he did apologize just before he left.
Reading Queen Solomon brought back some bad memories, andt the plot was a bit more than I expected. The stupidity (as I see it) by the narrator left me curious enough to read the novel to the end. The author, Tamara Berger, was able to bring the family dysfunctions into view in the very first pages. This is
one family that did not need to bring anyone into their home, as unstable as it was.
Being psychotic definitely perverse, and unreliable, our narrator shares his sexual encounters and the compulsive psycho sexual games Barbra brings to the plot. Her binge-drinking and lies to the family leave him terrified, but drawn into her games.
The return of Barbra years later, with a strange man with her, provides immense terror . The narrator is once more thrown into chaos. The author knows exactly how to keep the reader entertained with detailed sexual scenes and racial/ violence and colonist colliding.
I recommend this novel to those who can handle, raw, sexual, political. but compassionate plots. Not for the faint of heart.
