It's a very unsettling book.

The translation was done very well as the prose is very compelling and immediately draws you in. The timeline is jumbled and the fact that you're dealing with an unreliable narrator is immediately established. As a result, throughout the book I debated whether what was being described was real or a hallucination.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and found it a very compelling read with some great discussion about the bonds of parenthood and how much one is willing to sacrifice to save a life.
