Good premise, but characters lacked a little more depth.

I really enjoyed Aziraphale and Crowley's banter, it's, without doubt, the best thing in the book; but unfortunately, the other characters felt dull and boring. Especially Newt and Anathema's relationship.

I'm currently in a Japanese literature reading streak and Yöko Ogawa is definitely one of my favorites authors so far.

When picked up this book, I must confess that I was a little bit skeptical of the praises and raving reviews it was getting. Fortunately, I was wrong. This book is a beautiful story about family, how to cope with tragedy, and how to learn to move on. Not an easy feat for a standalone fantasy novel. Good job, M.L Wang.
