The illustrations are great becuase it makes the robot look big and tough but at the end of the book you realize he is just a small toy that destroys a kitchen.
The magic school bus inside a hurricane, is a story about students at school learning about the weather and their teacher takes them on the magic school bus for an adventure. On their adventure they run into a hurricane and they began learning about how hurricanes happen and what to do for safety. This book has great information about hurricanes and how weather changes. This book would be good for a science class or used to learn about weather.
The intersting story of how ice cream cones were invented. The book tells how three different people claim they invented the ice cream cone. The end of the story reveals the true story of the man who invented the ice cream cone. The man would sell ice cream at his cart. He had only one bowl and had to wait till the customer was done eating before he could serve anymore ice cream. The man would also go to the bakery and buy cookies and got the idea of molding the cookie to serve the ice cream. This is a fun book for children to learn about ice cream cones and inventions.

A biography book for children to learn about Helen Keller. This book tells the story of Helen Keller's life and how she learned when she was blind and deaf. Her mother and teacher would communicate to her by spelling letters in the palm of her hand. This is a great book to teach children about Helen Keller and handicapped people.
Splat the cat hates to take a bath because it makes him all soggy. Later that day at school was their first day in the swimming pool. All the cats jumped in for the fun, but Splat and his classmate Spike were both afraid. Splat is suprised because he thought Spike was tough and wasen't afraid of anything. Also since Spike was scared he couldn't tease Splat anymore. Finally Spike saw a candy fish floa in front of him and he fell into the pool trying to catch it. Then they were both swimming and having fun.
Reading this book to children can help them to brave and try new things becuase they might be fun and not so scary after all.

Scaredy Squirrel is a loney squrriel who wants to have a friend but he is too nervouse to leave his tree. Scaredy Squirrel is very careful on how he plans to make a new friend. He plans to have a friend with no teeth because he has a fear of getting bit. As he looks across the field he finds a goldfish and thinks it will be the perfect friend for him. Scaredy Squirrel makes a step by step plan of how to distract the other animals so he can climb down from his tree. He also makes a risk test, a sheet he plans to give animals he comes across. On the test sheet he has a picture of a himself and askes the question, "What do you see?" "A friend or something to bite?" As Scaredy Squirrle runs across the field and a dog starts to chase him. Part of his plan was to play dead if he came in contact with a dangerous animal, so that's what he did for 2 hours. Finally the dog gave him a nice big lick and Scaredy Squirrel realized he just made a new friend. This is an enjoyable book to read to children because Scaredy Squirrel is so nervous and careful. Also it can teach children to try something new.
September 12th: We Knew Would be Alright is a book that was written by 1st grade students. This is a ceative book that encourages young children that life goes on and everything will be okay. The illustrations are also creative because they use red, white, and blue, for the towers and the planes. The book used repetition and gave examples why everything would be alright. The students wrote, "Everything will be alright because the sun came up again." This book can be used in many different ways. One way is for students to have motivation to be creative and write their own story. Also it could be used in a history class to talk about the attack on 9/11.
Arlene is a fish who wants to become a sardine. This is a story of how a fish is caught in a net, left without food for three days, and then shipped to a factory to become packed in a can. Arlene Sardine teaches children about the food cycle and the process that fish go through before they are on the shelf in the grocery. Some children may find this book upsetting because the fish dies and is cooked. On the other side it is a great book for young children to begin learning how fish and animals are used for food. Learning how fish and animals are made into food can be difficult to explain and Arlene Sardine helps because it tells the basic steps of a fish becoming a sardine in a can.

The boy comes to the conclusion that his math teacher has put a curse on him. The boy starts his day off by picking out his clothes, but there are many options to choose from, which creates a problem. Then he has to figure out how long it takes to get dressed and eat breakfast so he can get out of the house and to school for a certain time. This is a great book to teach children about math and how important it is in our everyday lives. It shows how we use math everyday without realizing it.
The True Story of the Three Little PIgs is a story from the Wolf's side. The wolf tells his story of how he is innocent and he was framed. He did not blow down their houses, instead he just had bad cold and sneezed. The wolf also finds it assuming that the pigs built such flimsy houses. This is a funny story for children and it also reminds them that their is always two sides of a story. Readers will begin to question the story form the three little pigs after they hear the wolf's side of the story because he is very convincing. The illustations in the book are also great because it looks like a story from a newspaper.
Locomotion is a story of a young boy who has many feelings bottled up. His parents died and he is living with a foster parent while his sister lives with different foster parent. In school his teacher gives the students an assigment to write poetry. The book is written in poetry from the young boy. This is a great book because most students think that poetry must rhyme. The book teaches that there are many different kinds of poetry and that it can be used to express feelings.
Little Red Riding Hood is a classic folk tale of a little girl walking through the woods to bring her sick grandmother some food. She comes across a wolf and tells him where she is going. The wol then goes to the grandmother's house and climbs into her bed while he waits for the little girl. Most children often wonder what happens to their pets when they die. Dog Heaven is a book that describes what life is like for a dog after death. All the dogs go to dog heaven where they can run free and eat ice cream biscuits all day. The dogs can even take a trip back to Earth to check on their owner and see how they are doing. God also fills his heaven with children because dogs love to play with kids. This book can help a child who has had a pet pass away. It also can give them reassurance that their pets are safe in God's hands.
Abe Lincoln: The Boy Who Loved Books is a biography of Lincoln's childhood. The book tells the story of how Abraham Lincoln became the president of the United States. He had always loved books and most people thought he was lazy becuase he he rather read a book then work. He loved school and learning new things. At the age of thirteen he saw an aution block for slave owners and new it was wrong. Then he began studing law and became a lawyer and eventually became a president of the United States. This book can be used to teach students about Abraham Lincoln and how reading books are great for learning new things.
Fox in Sock is a tongue twister book by Dr. Seuss. This book is great to read to children because it is funny and the words can be tricky to read. Fox and Knox are the main characters in the book. Fox tries to get Knox to say tongue twister rhymes, but Knox gets frustrated. Eventually in the end Knox learns his own tongue twister and shares it with fox by packing him in a bottle with tweedle bettles. Fox in Socks is a great book to teach children about reptition and ryhming words.
A children's biograpgy book about Christopher Columbus and his voyage that land to the discovery of the America. This book gives a short discription of Columbus' childhood life and how he knew the Earth was round. He wanted to travel in the opposite direction to get to the Indies. In order to do this he had to ask the King and Queen for three ships, but they refused. Finally years later the King and Queen agreed to give Columbus his sips so he could sail. The book then goes into simple detail about his voyage and his discovery.
This is a great book about Beethoven's childhood life and how he started becoming a composer. As a young child, Beethoven struggled in school, particulary math. He began playing music at the age of 4 and now he is a well known composer of over 600 works. This is a great book for children to learn about composers and music. Also it's fascinating that Beethoven composed many of his works after he became deaf.
