This book was a complete and utter surprise to me. I initially read it as I was ill and didn't want the complication of fantasy. I was totally blown away by Kevin Kwan's writing, as this book is primarily aimed at woman and in my opinion his writing was better than most female authors. I was amazed at how Kevin Kwan was able to convey the lifes of Singapore's rich family's. Everything from his description of food to surroundings, painted a rich tapestry in my mind. It really does keep you wanting more. This book is one of the best book I've read in 2018 and can't wait to read the other two.
