A delightful and festive book certainly, but I don't leave it on the shelf until December. This book gets an airing throughout the year, as the recipes aren't all about the big day recipes. There is a huge variety of recipes, and some great food gift ideas too. Some of the recipes have appeared in other Nigella books, but most of the recipes are new. My Christmas menu comes entirely from this book, and I can't tell you how handy the Christmas schedule is. There is less stress cooking Nigella's recipes anyway, but a list, makes things even more do-able. Brined and Super Juicy Roast Turkey, Bread Sauce, truly THE BEST Perfect Roast Potatoes - and the most gorgeous looking book as well.
Nigella Bites: From Family Meals to Elegant Dinners -- Easy, Delectable Recipes for Any Occasion by Nigella Lawson
There is, I think, only one recipe left that I haven't made from this book, and it's because I don't know which fish to substitute. Every recipe I've tried has been a wonderful success, and it's a very family friendly book, with things like Pasta e Fagioli, Chicken with Chorizo and Cannelini and the Double Potato and Halloumi Bake. The Masala Omelette is one of my favourite breakfasts, and the Chocolate Fudge Cake - enough said!
Gorgeous book, and the writing is mesmerising - I often just read How to Eat for the pleasure of the 'sound' of Nigella's voice in the writing. A basic Roast Chicken (and later the BEST version of roast chicken in Tagliatelle with Chicken from the Venetian Ghetto), The World's Best Chocolate Ice Cream really is. There are lots of simple recipes for feeding children, and heaps of budget ideas (my Marsala costs just a couple of dollars) along with the more fancy menu options. Stews, soups, lunches, dinners, sweets, it's all delicious and there are SO many recipes! I've cooked from How to Eat more times than I can count, yet, I think after all these years, I have only scratched the surface. I love that I am still discovering new dishes.
Such a fabulous book. Worth the price of entry for the bread recipes alone. I can't believe how easy bagels are using Nigella's instructions, they come out so beautifully and better than anything I can buy. Then there is the lovely, light Potato Bread, the Basic White Loaf and the Nigellan Flatbreads.
The Banana Bread, which sounds innocuous stuns people with it's amazing flavour and aroma. The Victoria Sponge is perfect, and the preserves make me feel ever-so-clever for little effort.
This is a fun book, with all different levels of ability catered for and a lot of wonderful hints and tips.

Forever Summer is glorious. It contains two of my favourite ALL TIME recipes, that of the Lemony Prawn Salad and the Fattoush - simple, but so perfect. I adore the soups, both chilled and warm, and Nigella's way with Lamb is enough alone to make this book a necessity. The Ice Creams are all simple, but the Honey Semifreddo impresses people, but it is childishly easy to bring together. I use this book all year around. It's one of the best Nigella books, but then, all of Nigella's books are the best.
I have cooked almost all of the recipes from this book, or so it seems. It's just glorious and has foods for every ocassion. The Children's chapter is so very handy, and there are a lot of everyday meals sprinkled througout the book, as well as grand Feasts. The Georgian Feasts chapter is one of my favourites, but then, I don't want to play favourites as I can't think of a chapter I haven't utilised. Salads, pastas, bread and OH the Chocolate Cake Hall of Fame! I've never met a Nigella cookbook that didn't make me happy, but (to date) Feast could be the top of the top!
