WOODS' FIRST NOVEL (1981) INTRODUCES THE LEE FAMILY OF GEORGIA, AND FOLLOWS THEIR FORTUNES AND TRAGEDIES FROM 1920 THROUGH 1963. RIVETING PAGE-TURNER, AND THE SOLID BASE FOR SUBSEQUENT WILL LEE NOVELS. HAVING READ MOST OF HIS NOVELS, SPECIFICALLY THE STONE BARRINGTON SERIES, I'VE CONCLUDED THAT THIS MAY BE HIS BEST EFFORT - WELL-DRAWN CHARACTERS, ACTION AND SUSPENSE A SOLID WINNER!!
THIS MAY WELL BE THE BEST BALDACCI BOOK EVER! HIDDEN PLOT LINES, GREAT CHARACTERS, AND AN ENDING TO BLOW YOUR MIND. I LOVED IT!
In brief, I found the book to be puzzling, and disjointed, with an oddly unsatisfying ending. Without divulging any part of the plot, let me say that the protagonist's actions relative to one of the characters was completely unbelievable to me. A strange book. (A bonus for me, however, as a Canadian ex-pat since the early 1950's, was the frequent references to locales in Toronto [the book's setting] which brought back many childhood memories.)

ANOTHER SMASH HIT BY ONE OF MY FAVORITE AUTHORS! GREAT CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND MESMERIZING PLOT-LINES. I WAS UNABLE TO PUT IT DOWN.
