This easy to read book is about the history of honeybees. Nonbeekeepers and beekeepers both will find this book very informative. The title is from a Jonathan Swift (1667-1745) quote;

"We have chosen to fill our hives with honey and wax; thus furnishing mankind with the two noblest of things, which are
sweetness and light."

Well said Jonathan.
This book's quirky title gives one the idea that this is not your usual beekeeping manual. This small book is funny, informative, filled with bits of bee lore (did you know honeybees have been used to find land mines?) and just a good read.
I am a beekeeper and when I first picked up this book I was not impressed. Once I started to read it...I was hooked. Beekeeper or not try it out!
Author Kim Flottum is the editor of Bee Culture magazine. This beautiful and informational book is a must have for beekeepers and cooks. Easy to read, eye candy pictures and over 50 honey recipes. I give it 5 bee stars.
This is a classic beekeeping book. Great for all levels of beekeepers. A Month-by-Month instructions for successful beekeeping.
A very basic beekeeping book that appears to be a self published manuscript.

This book is an all time favorite of our readers. A wonderful story of a young troubled girl who runs away from home and learns her lessons of life from beekeepers.
Published in 2009 with fabulous pictures by Ilona. Written by E. Readicker-Henderson who is a beekeeper turned regular writer and contributor to National Geographic Traveler, Sierra, and other magazine.
The combination of details of living with Bees, from dancing bees, from nectar to honey, to inside the hive and the wonderful photography makes this book one of my favorites. Small in size- big in content. A must have for any bee library.

An excellent look at America's foremost beekeeper. The information is taken largely from Langstroth's own notes and memoirs and very factual. A tale of rising aspirations and accomplishments, followed by painful loss and suffering. Yet in the end the man made an enormous contribution to beekeeping. Since a large amount of the material comes from Langstroth's own writing you will be wading through some old style English prose.
