Awesome book for young children containing photos of real children portraying actual children labeled with one word on each page.
Marvin gets mad is a wonderful story about how our appearance and actions can vastly change when we become upset. This is also a wonderful book to bring a child through a calm-down stage finding a place to be their "cave" within their classroom or home.
an adorable wonderfully written semi-social story of how a mouse acted when he was mad. He tried hopping, stomping, screaming, and rolling but all of his animal friends said he was doing it wrong...in the end he tried standing still mad, not moving a muscle mad and he was no longer mad.
a wonderfully simple book! especially if the classroom has a variety of kiddos regarding their understanding of feelings. it includes 'masks' for each emotion that kids can try on (they're attached to the pages). each emotion is associated with a different color. This book could be a natural start to art/craft time to make masks. This books lists various events that may be associated with a specific emotion but the students could add to the list and can also disagree with the list.
Great book for an older preschool child possibly. wonderful pictures showing body language and the text lists reason she feels the way she feels. With each new feeling the labels' (silly, scared, disappointed) font also relates to the feeling. silly is a silly font, the word scared is jagged and appears to be shaking. it also might be good to talk about other examples of when the different emotions are felt. in the book the character is scared of a thunder storm, I love thunder storms but I'm not a big fan of other things. this could lead to a conversation about everyone being different and thats ok.
The end of the book has a page for parents and suggestions of how parents (teachers too) can use the book to lead into conversations about emotions.

This is a great book for any kiddos who might be scared of monsters under the bed. As you go through the book the monster appears a little at a time and then disappears just a quickly.
Also could compare and contrast body parts on the monster with the child's body and learning about colors and shapes (not mentioned by name but could look at shapes on the page maybe play a little eye spy)

This is a good book for very young children. Goes through how we show love to other people or how others show us they love us.
Along with the topic of love this is a touch and feel book. A couple examples of texture covered, are wooly, soft, and crunchy (rough)

This book connects colors to emotions/feelings. When reading it to a child one should make note of the text as well and make sure to use ones voice to portray the emotion. For example yellow can be read quickly with a higher pitched voice but read brown slowly with a lower pitch.
A great resource for younger children...quick read for short attention span.

Great book to discuss the unconditional love from parents. Caution should be taken if a mother is not in the child's life for some reason. The main thing to keep in mind with this book is before reading with a child know about their family dynamic and if mom is in the picture.
The book works through inappropriate was to tell people and react when we are mad. Then it works through appropriate reactions to the feelings and situations that might make someone mad.
The story of two friends who have different skills, but together they work together. One day they find something and because they don't see from the others perspective they become angry with one another. They spend time apart and decide they miss each other too much to stay apart. They say sorry and see things from each others perspective.
Excellent story of friendship and overcoming emotions.

The book works through one week of a child's life. Each day a new event brings on a new emotion based on a new event happening that day.
Could be used to discuss reasons to feel each emotion and possibly the days of the week...early sequencing skills.

Good to discuss more complex emotions beyond happy, sad, surprised and silly.
Could be used to to discuss weather (related to emotion), letter recognition and facial expression.

Young kids often want to help out. This is a good book for working though being helpful the way adults find kids to be helpful and how kids might want to try to be helpful.
