Well-written, shocking memoir of a very difficult life - poverty, alcoholic father, mental institution, abusive husband etc.
I won a copy of Hannah’s book in exchange for reviewing. I am happy that I am able to honestly give a very positive review. I enjoyed reading Book 1 of the Storm of Elements series - Cursed Earth. It is well written, with engaging characters, and an interesting story line. I am looking forward to the next in the series.
The main character, Maxine, is very likeable – kind, determined, thoughtful yet feisty. Through no fault of her own, she is relocated from Terrenia, her homeland, to Demergia, a prison colony in her world. She does have better prospects than some, as her family is well off and her Uncle Gus, a lawyer, works on her behalf. Though undoubtedly unhappy about the turn of events, she approaches the exile with courage, befriends two others on her sea journey to Demergia, and helps her friends on arrival. She immediately wishes to be of use in her new home, and starts a much needed school.
Adventures, including a romance (or two) ensue and keep the reader engaged. I won’t detail any further events, to avoid spoiling the suspense.
I recommend Cursed Earth for anyone who enjoys fantasy!

I'm afraid I couldn't finish this book - read about a fifth of it before giving up. I was struck from the first page by the grammatical errors, and immature writing style. The book began with a dry description of the three planets in the imagined universe. Once the story began, there was a very slight improvement . The author has a good imagination, but was unable to convince me of the plausibility of his setting, story or characters. Even for science fiction, I found the universe inconsistent and unbelievable, as were the stilted conversations and events as far as I read.

I received a digital review copy of this book. “The Play’s the Thing” is time travel with a twist … or two. My review will not cover much of the plot, to avoid revealing too much, but, in short, Jessica is a university professor, specializing in Shakespearean works. She finds herself transported to Shakespeare’s time … specifically Shakespeare’s room! I really don’t want to say much more about what happens, not even whether or not she ever gets back to the future. However, I will say that I enjoyed this book. I was a bit less enthusiastic for the first few chapters, but soon found myself engrossed and quite curious to see how the story would play out (pun intended). I found the practical details of life in 1598 interesting. I am not a history buff, or a Shakespeare scholar (though I studied some of his works in high school many years ago). The book was still enjoyable – but I suspect a history and/or Shakespeare aficionado would enjoy it even more! I waffle between 3 or 3½ stars – a fun, enjoyable read, but not life-altering.

Very dark and gruesome - but very well written. The plot grabs you ... and I am hooked to get the sequel once it's written to see what happens next to Nita!
