The message of this book is to trust in family. When their grandpa was gone they made a huge bargan to get their grandma back. Eventually that led to them getting their grandpa back. If they had not trusted that their grandma could help them they would have had a bad time.

This was an AMAZING book! It follows the story of Meg Murry and her adventure to find and rescue her
father Alexander, who was trapped on a planet of evil (Camazots) while experimenting with the 5th dimension for the government. Meg is emotionaly unstable I guess, because of the loss of her father, but her scientist mother (her father is also a scientist) and genius little brother Charles Wallace think she has a lot of potential. One dark stormy night, Meg walks down to see Charles Wallace heating up some milk for the scared Meg, shortly after Meg's mother comes down stairs like Charles predicted. You see, Charles Wallace can read Meg and his mothers mind sometimes, that is why he knew. Their crazy neighbor Mrs. Whatsit comes in and Charles reveles that he and Mrs. Whatsit are freinds. Near the end of the conversation Mrs. Whatsit mentions a tesseract to mom. The next day she meets Calvin (the popular kid at school, and the walk to the Whatsits house, and they reveal that that she and her two friends Mrs. Who and Which are celestial beans that are stars. They use the same concept their father used to get himself trapped to travel to different worlds. They Eventually wind up on Camazots to save their father. After Charles Wallace is possessed by IT (literally the evil embodiment of all evil in the universe) meg uses the power of love to save him and her father.
One of the main themes of the book is centered around Christianity and other similar religions show more the IT being the devil. in the book It wants to make everyone a miserable slave with no choices. And those religions believe that Satan whats to do that exact same thing. Another theme could be show less
This book is called Bone. It is about three "Bones" (small white creatures) named Fone Bone, phony bone, and Smiley Bone. Phony bone was a very rich Bone who tried to run for Mayor but was chased out of town with his 2 cousins because of how selfish he was. Fone is a nice bone with not manny skills to be honest. Smiley, well his name tells it all. While walking in the desert for day, a swarm of locus insects separate them. Fone meets a bug named ned, who takes him to the forest. Imedeatly after it snows, so he must survive the winter. Eventually he finds a young girl named Thorn who takes him to her house. Meanwhile Phony meets Thorns tough, cow-racing grandma and meet back up with Fone at the house. Thorn tells the bones that there is a big event at the town that involves a lot of betting in a while, thus leading the cousins to believe that Smiley might be there. They had to do a bunch of chores to prepare, but Phony being lazy leaves early and meets Smiley at pub. After Thorns house is attacked by Rat-Monsters they run to the pub and meet Smiley and Phony, and we are left with a cliffhanger of the king of the rat monsters talking about how he will kill Phony.
I think that the moral of this story is to be just and right. I think this because Fone tells thorn that the reason that they got into this mess, was because Phony gave the whole town bad plum tarts and was greedy and mean. That means that if he was better they wouldn't have been chased out. Another interpretation show more could be to stick together. The Locus swarm separated them so they were alone and defenseless. I give this book a 3 because I feel like we only get background info on the supporting characters. Thorn gets a flashback scene, and half the book Phony is talked about, but our hero Fone, not much is given. show less
This is a book about the jobs and carers of Ancient Greeks. One job is becoming a politician, It involved being a good public speaker. You had to convince people to vote for you. Like Pericles, but maybe not the best example because he was charged of stealing public money. There were also many jobs that involved fighting, like Spartans and hoplites. The Spartans were an elite class of almost super soldiers! To become one you had to leave home at the age of 7 and train all your life! Other jobs like Athletes and Actors required much less skill. All you had to do was have a loud voice and be funny or be fast and strong. This book covered many more such as Architect, Farmer, Oracle, Doctor, Scientist, Merchants and, Teachers.
I think the point of this book was to inform. I think this because It talks about very real things. But the part about gods. I know they are real because the author sited all her work in the front of the book. I also know because all nonfiction are true. This book is informing me on Greek jobs. I think i have learned a lot from this book and I recommend it.
This book is about a boy named William Kamkwamba who lived in Malawi in Africa. William comes from a very poor family. His dad was a farmer and they grew maize. His dad was a presbyterian who believed God was his best protection. Africa is very poor and has some bad famines. They could not afford to buy fertilizer for their farm. There was no harvest and people started starving. The country did not have enough money for schools. During a famine, William started to go to the library and read. He was 13. He found out that he liked to read books about electronics. He read in a textbook called Using Energy about a windmill. He new that could change his life and he decided to build a windmill. He gathered trash and scraps. He pulled old nails out to use. He used a bike. He used a peanut grinding machine. He used rubber from shoes. The rubber made friction to make electricity. People made fun of him and said he could not do it. His friend Gilbert helped. He didn't give up and it actually made electricity. The electricity made his lights work. They had never had electricity before and had to use oil and kerosene lamps. He wanted to start a business to charge peoples phones. He learned about circuits and improved his windmill. He was always looking for ideas and put an antenna on the windmill to make a radio station. His friend Jeffery helped. He also made a water pump. This was a cool book and inspired me to be more curious and look for ideas to fix and make stuff.
Alexander Hamilton is very popular now because there is a musical about his life on broadway. He was a very important founding father but not as famous as Washington and Jefferson because he died at a younger age. This book tells about his life. He was born on the island of Nevis in the West Indies. His father was from Scotland. They did not have land or opportunities but Hamilton made the most of what he had. The end is the last book in A Series of Unfortunate Events where the Baudilares must unravel the chilling mystery of there lives. When shipwrecked on an island with Count Olaf, a poisonous mushroom, and a harpoon gun with one shot left, a young girl named Friday takes the Baudilares to her small civilization but leaves Count Olaf due to his wicked deeds. When they arrive they meet Ishmael and the rest of the tribe of islanders. They find out that it is collection day because after storms they scavenge the wreckage and bring it to Ishmael, an old man without working feet to inspect. When each islander shows him an object he says "I'm not forcing you but I think you should throw it away" (not in exact wording). They notice the seashells that they all have and find out that it is cordial. They think that island life would be fun but it is extremely boring and want to leave. Friday tells them that you can because they build a boat every year, but because nobody wants to leave they just burn it. After a while Kit Snicket, stuck on top of a large cube of book and "Inky" the incredibly deadly viper show up. Ishmael leaves the Baudilares for supporting the use of the books. When stuck on the beach two islanders come to feed the Baudilares and tell them about the mutiny they are going to hold against "Ish". They dicide to take part in it by taking weapons from the tent they store all the trash that shows up after storms. While in the tent they find a secret passage leading to a show more luxurious room with a copy of a book about their parents. A walking Ishmael comes in and reveals that there parents once lived there and that they were the leaders until Ishmael over thew them and lead the island to a simple life. When arriving on the island the mutiny had started. Ishmael harpooned Olaf in the chest unleashing the mushrooms upon the island. Everyone is infected but the Baudilares find out the the apple tree has been hybridized with horseradish, the cure. When they return with the apples the islanders had already left on the boat leaving only the Baudilares and count Olaf to help Kit Snicket go through labor. Kit and Olaf die due to the harpoon wound and the mushrooms. Because of Kits dying wish they name the baby after there mother, Beatrice. After taking care of the baby for a year they leave on a boat to the mainland

In my opinion I was very disappointed with the ending. Almost everybody dies and Lemony Snicket just leaves the story with them sailing of to the mainland. I know he put out lots of disclaimers that it would be sad but I was still kind of sad that they did not just stay with Justice Strauss.
