Excellent book! It is not only a biography, but also a history of the old west and photography. The photographs in the book have been reproduced in excellent quality as well.
Great historical photos with interesting captions. Anyone that likes Yellowstone history will enjoy this book. However, someone didn't do a great job of proofreading before sending the book to print. There are several typos.
Fifteen Thousand Miles by Stage: A Woman's Unique Experience during Thirty Years of Path Finding and Pioneering from the Missouri to the Pacific and from Alaska to Mexico (Volume 2) 1880-1898 by Carrie Adell Strahorn
Good read and historical account. The writing of this second volume seemed more polished than the first which made it seem somehow not as personal, but still a good account of life at the time with many good stories of the author's travels.
Great read! Many historical accounts of trips through Yellowstone. Very interesting to see the reactions of the different travelers to the same sights in the park. Some opinions were near the same, others different. The different writing styles of the authors also make the book more interesting. The notations also make for some interesting reading as well.
The Wonders of Geyser Land: A Trip to the Yellowstone National Park, of Wyoming (Classic Reprint) by Frank D. Carpenter
Very good read. A detailed historical account of the author and his party on their trip through Yellowstone and their capture by the Nez Perce.
Fifteen Thousand Miles by Stage: A Woman's Unique Experience during Thirty Years of Path Finding and Pioneering from the Missouri to the Pacific and from Alaska to Mexico (Volume 1) 1877-1880 by Carrie Adell Strahorn
Good read and historical account. This volume includes an account of a trip through the Yellowstone area.
Good historical reference but not an enthralling read. Only the first half of the books contains information about the trip through the park and it is a somewhat fantastical narrative. The entire second half of the book is filled with a very thorough description of the territory of Montana at the time of writing. It also contains various examples of business advertisements of the time from several Montana cities.
Excellent diary of the 1870 expedition into the region that would become Yellowstone National Park. Includes illustrations that are some of the earliest depictions of some of the parks features.
Excellent and thoroughly researched history of the park from it's origin to the early 1980's. A must read for anyone interested in the history of the park.
National Geographic Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks Road Guide: The Essential Guide for Motorists (National Park Road Guide) by Jeremy Schmidt
Best road guide for these two parks that I have found. I have bought additional copies to give to friends and co-workers.
