The book, “You wouldn't want to be an american colonist,” deserves full credit. It had a good overview of being an american colonist, by showing you all the different things that could and would happen to you while being one. The book had nice illustrations, that were friendly and entertaining. I would definitely suggest this book to other readers. As always I did enjoy how short the book was, and how there are so many facts on just twenty-eight pages. It was a very interesting book.

Now before you say that you would have become an american colonist, let me give you an idea of what that would mean. First of all, you would be crammed onto a tiny ship, where you would stay on for six months with the other one hundred-forty-four settlers. You would sleep on the floor of the lower deck, knowing that the Atlantic Ocean could sink the boat anytime. As you arrive in Virginia, you help to start a thriving colony. Still there would be some setbacks, like for example a fire could break out and burn down all the buildings, which you would now have to rebuild. As winter comes, a drought has made the crops fail. You would have eaten horses, dogs, cats, and rats. Dead bodies are buried daily, so that colonists will be able to dig them up to eat! Soon the colony grows again, and life is restored.
I am giving this book five stars, because it definitely deserves them. Kiera Cass is a great author, and she has got me hooked on the Selection series! The Selection is a very interesting, and entertaining book, that will let your imagination go wild. I would definitely suggest this book to people that maybe don't like to read very much. It’s funny, because I am one of those people, and thanks to my friends, the book landed into my hands. I do not regret that at all! This is an awesome book.

The Selection is about a girl named America Singer, whose cast is a six. During this time there is a competition going on in Illea her home town. The competition is about the prince of Illea, prince Moxon. Girls at the age of six-teen would get a letter in the post, and would fill it out and send it to the palace. The whole point of this is for prince Maxon to find a wife, a strong powerful woman. Only thirty-five girls would be selected, and would be brought to the palace to meet the prince. America’s mom is forcing her to sign up for it so that the family will get some money. The problem is that America is in love with Aspen her boyfriend, but Aspen is and eight, so he also encourages her to sign up. Soon enough America fills out the form thinking she won't be picked anyway. Unfortunately for her, she is picked as one of the thirty-five girls. America isn't even in love with the prince, and she doesn't want to marry him. But as time passes America and Maxon become good friends, show more and end up falling in love with each other. show less
I give this book five stars, because it was very entertaining, had good facts, and had a lot of great illustrations. This is probably one of my favorite “You wouldn’t want to be” books, because it was more spine-chilling than any of the other books in the series. I would definitely suggest this book to other people. The book gives you a good view of all the things pirates would do to you. As always, I did enjoy how short the book was, and how it had a ‘Handy Hint’ box on every page. No joke, the ‘Handy Hints’ they gave you would have been very useful at the times were the pirates would torture you. I think this book definitely deserves five stars.

You definitely would not want to become a pirate's prisoner, here are some reasons why. What first happens is that you are attacked by pirates that want your treasures, then of course they want more and as the captain, you cannot and will not tell the pirates what course the other treasure ships are taking. So since you won't confess, the pirates will pretty much torture you, until you tell them what they need to know. To start, they clamp you in large , heavy leg irons called bilboes. They leave you fastened on the deck for seven whole days. If that doesn’t loosen your tongue, they try it the old fashioned way… with the dreaded cat-o’-nine-tails. This is a tool that is made out of long rope that is tied to a wooden stick, and each of the ropes ‘tails’ has three knots tied in it. It is used to whip a show more person. (Some cat-o’-nine-tails have fish hooks at the end of the cat’s tails. Ouch!) After being torchered for so long, you decide to tell the pirates about the other ships, since they now know what they need, you are useless. You are stranded on an island, and eventually found by a nearby ship. Luck you! show less
I think that this book deserves five stars, because it was very informative about this situation, and it had good explanations about this heart condition. The book had great pictures of the doctors and patients. It's a very touching book, because these poor babies with this heart condition, were going to be operated on, with a big chance of them not making it. The first time this disease was introduced was on a cold day in November 1944. An eighteen-month-old baby girl named Eileen Saxon, was brought into the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She had a very rare heart condition called blue baby syndrome, most doctors thought she would die, first of because they didn't know what was wrong with her, and second of because she was so tiny they didn't think they could operate her. But that didn't stop Dr.Blalock and his coworkers from trying.

On November 29, 1944, Eileen Saxon was brought into the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She could barely breath because of a heart condition called blue baby syndrome. Her lips and fingertips would turn a dark blue, and most doctors thought that she wouldn't make it. Dr.Blalock was the chief surgeon, and next to him was Dr.Taussig who was a world-famous pediatric physician. Still that didn't help this situation no one knew what to do except Vivien Thomas, who wasn't even supposed to be in the operating room. He was the only one who had ever successfully carried out the procedure on a research animal. Thanks to him, tens of thousands of children have been show more cured. That night he was the hero. show less
I give this book five stars, because it was very knowledge on this subject, and it was very interesting to read. It had great illustrations as well. The book gave good details on all the different weapons they used during world war two, and all the secret handshakes and hiding places that agents used. Some agents used fake logs and fruit to hide ammunition and other small items. I think that’s pretty clever. They had spigot guns, noiseless guns, sleeve guns, explosive rats, etc. Agents learned how to fight and make their own bombs at a training program, if they passed it, then they would be sent to a paramilitary school in northern Scotland. And that's where they learn how to become real secrete agents.

This book talks about why you wouldn't want to be a secret agent during world war two. You would have to be willing to give up your life to become one. During your training you learn how to pick locks, how to create your own bombs, how to live with nature, how to send Morse code messages, and so on. You learn how to use all these different guns, and how to set booby traps. It sure must a lot to become a secret agent, I know that I wouldn't want to be one.
This book deserves five stars, because it gives you good information and good facts, about slaves in Ancient Greece. I would definitely suggest this book to other people. It was fun and interesting to read, and the book was short.I enjoyed the handy hint boxes on every page, because they would tell you things like "Hint: Be nice to your owner's eldest son. When his father dies,he'll become your master." The book had great illustrations as well. It definitely deserves five stars.

Why wouldn't you want to be a slave in Ancient Greece? Well there are lots of reasons. What first happens is you get captured by Greeks that want to sell you as a slave in Athens. They take away everything, your weapons, your jewelry, and your family. As a slave you have literally no rights, you can't vote, serve on juries, or debate government plans. You can't take time off, rest if you are ill, or leave your workplace. Female salves have a disadvantage, they are considered less important and intelligent than men. Sometimes male slaves are taken into battle with their owner, if the slave fights bravely, then as a reward he might be set free.
I gave this book five stars because it was very educational, it had good facts and it was an easy read. The book had nice pictures, and the story was written in a way that made you feel part of it. I felt the pain that those poor children felt when they got whipped by an overseer, or got cotton fibers stuck in their eyes.(- causes swelling and very itchy eyes.) I'm glad that I was born in the twenty-first century, and that I don't need to work in a dirty, hot, oily mill. And I think all kids should be thankful for that. We all know that we have someone in the world that cares about us, but back then you weren't so sure.
This was a very interesting book.

This book talks about why you wouldn't want to be a Victorian mill worker. The year is 1842 and the law is that children at the age of nine to thirteen, only need to work for nine hours a day in the mill. Still some mill owners get away with making kids work thirteen-and a half hours a day. Children get played three shillings( about $20,50), and adults nine shillings.
( about $61,50) Working in a mill is very dangerous believe it or not. Every day girls would die, because their long hair would get caught in machines, and they would get crushed by them. Children were always very likely to go deaf, cause a mill is one of the noisiest places that you can be in. Some caught a painful coughing disease from other weavers called Tuberculosis. They also had to watch out for the sharp metal pins on the carding machines, they could show more prick your fingers. So back then mills weren't really child friendly, and children were mistreated. Today kids are very lucky. show less
I feel this book only deserves two stars, because it wasn't very interesting. The book does a good job at describing the evolution of dinosaurs, but does not make it fun to read. I also think that the book is to long and is just boring. A book about any type of animal, should be able to give short details and good facts about it. I am sure this is a super book for people that are into dinosaurs, but not for me. There for I am only giving this book two stars.

This Dinosaur book is about the evolution of dinosaurs. The author writes about some of the first painters that tried to figure out what dinosaurs looked like, by looking at single fossil pieces. One of these painters was Benjamin Waterhouse. He created the first life-sized dinosaurs and unveiled them in the 1850s. They were unlike anything ever seen before. But first to even give artists an idea of what dinosaurs really looked like, there had to be Paleontologists to find the fossils. So in 1964 Paleontologist John Ostorm discovered the first specimen of 'Deinonychus'.(a type of dinosaur) So as you can see it must have taken a lot of work to figure out what dinosaurs really looked like.
I feel that this book deserves five stars, because it was very humerus and fun to read. The book is written in a way that makes the reader feel like he or she is part of the story. The chapters were nice and short, and there were cool pictures involved. The author grabs your attention right away, by starting the first sentences with: All my life we Kidds have lived on the sea. Then one day, we almost died under it. Right when I read that first sentence, I was lost in the book. And if a book has that kind of power on a reader, then it deserves five stars.

This book is about a family's children who are cazy treasure hunters. Tommy is the oldest, Storm who has a photographic memory is the sister, and Bech is the twin sister from , Bick, who is the twin brother. They are also on the search for their missing parents that work in the CIA. They believe that their dad is dead, because he got forced to walk the plank on a ship during a horrible storm. And they later find out who kidnapped their mom. The Kidd Family goes through a lot of trouble to find their parents. They use every little clue that they can find. One day a guy that was friends with the Kidd's father, gave them a thumb-drive. On it was a video from their mom. She gave the Kidd family clues where to find her. With this information that the Kidd family got, they go and try to find their parents. On the trip to find their loved parents, the have to go to Cairo, where lots of adventures await.

Mathew is not very pleased having Sam in his live. Sam has no friends yet and he does not seem to care. Mathew's dad said that Sam should join the Sheds. The Sheds is a type of 'squad' that Mathew and his friends Tyrone, Jake, and Charley made. Sam wants to join, but he needs to prove himself first. Mathew, Tyrone, Jake, and Charley decide that Sam needs to dress up as a girl for the first week of his new school. Turns out Sam looks like a GREAT girl. On the first day of school he fools everyone at Bradbury Hill. Sam steps over lines and all type of boundaries.

I gave this book five stars, because it is very well written and a hilarious book! It has great humor and cool characters. The reason why I think that the book is well written, is because I enjoyed how the author wrote the name of the characters over the paragraphs so that the reader would know who was speaking or telling a story. The only thing that the book was missing were pictures! Still overall the book was amazing and hilarious.
It is 1860 and Abraham Lincoln is elected as president. You are a normal farmer living on a farm in Connecticut. You decide to go to war when the president calls for volunteers to sigh up for 90-day enlistments in the army. It isn't easy to persuade your wife to come with. It was a good idea to bring your wife with, because she could cook and do your laundry. To defend yourself you have a Sharps rifle. Some soldiers that were wounded in battle had limbs that needed to be amputated, because there were no antiseptics or antibiotics. After four years the war ended. You and your wife can go back to your farm in Connecticut.

I gave this book three stars, because I felt it had creative illustrations. The author could grab the attention of the reader, and was able to stay focused on what was important. The book was very informative, and was a easy read. I really don't have any complains about the book. If I had one suggestion it would be that I didn't really like that the author only talked about the soldiers that came from the north. He didn't really mention the soldiers from the South. Still overall the book was very good.
The book talks about why you wouldn't want to be Tutankhamen. Tutankhamen (or king Tut) became Pharaoh when he was only nine after his dad died. He had to marry his older half-sister, and changed his name from Tutankhaten, to Tutankhamen. Tutankhamen was forced to marry his older half-sister so that the royal families blood stayed pure.Tutankhamen dies in his teen years. Archaeologists still don't know the cause of Tutankhamen's death. It could have been murder or simply an infection that set after he broke his leg. In 1922 English Archaeologist Howard Carter finds Tutankhamen's tomb. It was the most famous archaeological discovery in the world.

I decided to give this book three stars. Why? Well I enjoined reading this book because it gives you good facts and ideas of how it was to be a pharaoh at the age of nine. It was also very pleasant to read a book that was considered short, but still gives you all the information you need. Another thing that made the book fun and interesting were the pictures.
One thing that I did not really like about the book was the ending. It just wasn't how I expected it to end. Still overall the book was great!
