The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing (Magic Cleaning #1) by Marie Kondo
good insights but words upon words upon words ...
I'm glad I borrowed it from the library ...
Yes, the ideas have merit, and the anecdotal style is annoying
she could have written this in 10 pages"

The author's religious beliefs and praxis inform the values his characters exemplify; this trilogy is essentially an extended morality tale. (FWIW, I would endorse those values)
Highly derivative. I appreciate Mannerism, checking off the references to this, to that: the allusions in these Muirwood trilogies cover the gamut from Star Wars to Ancient Near Eastern Mythologies. I don't mind predictable plots, I'm as interested in *how* the author tells the same old story as in the details of the narrative. All that said - I doubt that I'll be reading any more of Wheeler. For me, he twists the myths ...

Recommended on Kindle Unlimited. It quickly becomes predictable, and "unappetizing"
Singer establishes, and amply illustrates, a vocabulary that could serve to mutually illuminate 12 Step spirituality, Buddhism, Mindfulness, and contemplative Christianity. I found the first 3/4 of the book engaging and stimulating, but I was disappointed by the last few chapters. I hope to read it again in a couple of months; and then revisit this review.
This translation produced such tortured English that I couldn't take it any longer. I got through Chapter 4, and turned it back in to Kindle Unlimited. At least I didn't pay for it!
I trust that the story, in the original, is profound, and revelatory. At least some others have thought so.

WTF?
Others have given erudite reviews. This is simply my *reaction*
I was tremendously disappointed, and horribly offended. That about sums it up

This work is the most beautiful spiritual autobiography I have ever read. The stories are not simply recited tales, juxtaposing mutually illuminating themes. Rather, they braid strands, evoking insight, calling forth emotions - recognition shared heart to heart, words invoking Word.
I come from a people who have been displaced, and perhaps for that very reason, value place and presence all the more. Dr. Volck paints icons with words. For me, the scenes are vivid, the children and their environments live in this telling. It is humbling to meet them, in a sense to stand with them; and even more to hear the story of Dr. Volck's own heart unfolding.

Resident Aliens: A Provocative Christian Assessment of Culture and Ministry for People Who Know that Something is Wrong by Stanley Hauerwas
I found it unsettling, not in a good way ... going to read again before I comment
I read this first in High School, then again in my 14 year sojurn in Claremont. Returned to it again in the past few years. It haunts my dreams, and I must confess that it fuels both my pessimism and my hope for an "alternative future"
Recommended by a friend who shares interest in historical fiction as a vehicle for social commentary. It's a fast read; giving a positive, engaging, vision of Celtic Christianity in 6th century Ireland, seen through modern eyes.
I'd forgotten how dark Moore's work can be. This book shares themes and plot devices with his other novels of the supernatural, but stands apart from the "California tales." Enjoyed the opening chapters, the gradual unfolding ... but I was ready for it to be over and done
I understand why the book is used in seminary courses. What a romp ... !
I was mightily impressed with the story telling, and intrigued by the argument.
Epistemology and Shaminism, epistemological foundations of a shaministic state of mind :-)
Want to read it again, perhaps worth acquiring a personal copy.
