The book is about an 8th grader named Kelvin who has lost his money for his lying in the first book. In this book Kelvin is in need of money so he can pay for a ticket for the girl of his dreams Tina. As Kelvin worked for money in so many ways he has lost track of many things. Kelvin also notices he is making a lot of money so he tries to become rich. Kelvin did many things to get money such as setting up poker games and using his sister businesses as a way to get money. Kelvin gets so hooked on money he forgets the real purpose of why he was making money.

In the end all Kelvin did at the dance was to help out and he still thinks he may have a chance of going out with her.

The Cay begins with an eleven year old boy Named Phillip who lives during the time of World War two. Phillip's family then believes that it is not safe to live there anymore because of German submarines near the island of Curacao. Phillip leaves the island with his mom on the S.S Hato, destination Virginia. The ship is then shot by a torpedo and goes down. Phillip is hit in the head by debris. Phillip then meets Timothy and Stew Cat (a black cat). They build a raft but with Phillip a racist it makes it hard for them to work together. Later Phillip is blinded from the torpedo incident a while back. The three then get stuck on THE CAY.

The cay is a one mile by half a mile in width. Phillip and Timothy then do lots of teamwork. Phillip later memorizes the whole island even if he can't see. As things do good a massive storms comes. After the storm rescuers arrive just after Timothy just died from the storm (didn't like that part).

Overall I really enjoyed this book hope others do too.

This is my summary of a book on Love You, Soldier.
The book begins with a young Jewish girl named Katie. The story first begins in New York. Katie's dad who is sent to fight in World War 2. Katie and her mother work hard with her father away. Katie then makes friends with her neighbor downstairs Mrs. Leistein. Later Katie's mother's friend Louise comes to their house since her husband is away in the war. Louise is also pregnant.

Katie is in the library one day when a really large storm came. Katie came home and Louise told her she was in labor. Katie took her too the hospital and the baby Rosie was born. Later another event happened a telegram came saying that Katie's father had died. Katie and her mother were devastated but still managed to move on.

This book was good and I would urge others to read this book too.

The Argo 2 ends up in the Appennine mountains 2 days after the Mark of Athena. While they are sailing through the sky they get attack by mountain gods. Hazel sees her horse Arion nearby and asks Leo if they can land. Hazel is then taken to Hecate goddess of crossroads. Hazel has 2 choices go west to save Camp Half Blood or go west to save Annabeth and Percy at the Doors of Death.

While the others are on the ship Annabeth and Percy are in Tartarus they get attacked by empousai. They are then helped by a titan named Bob. As they jouney they go to Hermes shrine then later get attacked by fury like creatures. Percy is hurt and then they head to a giant named Damasen.

The Argo 2 enters the city of Bologna and are boarded by dwarves who Hecate said would meet them. The dwarves take the groups stuff into a tower in which Leo comes and takes some of the stuff. Including an agricultural book of the God of agriculture. The Argo 2 go to Venice to deliver the book to the God. But the group gets attacked by a herd of cow like creatures. Hazel is hurt by their poison and she is then taken into the god's house. The god says he won't heal her since she is a daughter of Hades. Nico complains but is then turned into a corn plant. Frank tells the God to help them but the God still denies. Frank then eliminates all the cow creatures in Venice so his Dad Ares can give him a snake. Frank gives this snake to the God then the God heals Nico and Hazel.

Then the crew engages combat with a son of show more Poseidon, Sciron. Scrion is then tricked by Hazel and falls off the cliff. The crew then heads to Diocletian's palace. Jason and Nico then go down to search for the scepter but the scepter is with Cupid. Cupid says he will give them the scepter if Nico says who he loves. Nico says he loves Percy Jackson and then Cupid gave the scepter to Nico.

The crew is attacked again by a goddess named Khione. Khione sends the engineer Leo into an island. Leo then leaves the island after kissing a girl named Calypso.

Percy and Annabeth then confront the goddess of misery, Akhlys. Akhlys betrays them and Percy destroys her with her own mist.

The rest of the crew make it to the House of Hades in which they must enter to find The Doors of Death.

Percy,Bob, and Annabeth confront 2 other titans guarding the elevator. Bob distracts them for a while so Percy and Annabeth can get in. The god Tartarus comes and kills the 2 other titans leaving Bob to fight him. Percy and Annabeth get into the elevator, then suddenly Damasen arrives helping Bob.

I thought this was a great book. show less

The Mark of Athena begins with the demigods going to Camp Jupiter a Roman camp. When the Argo 2 begins to descend into Camp Jupiter they are stopped by Terminus because there are no weapons aloud in Camp Jupiter. When the group of demigods (Piper, Annabeth, Leo, and Jason) enter the camp they are welcomed by Percy, Hazel, and Frank. Later a reunion is held and Ella the harpy speaks of a prophecy that references to Annabeth's quest The Mark of Athena. Soon after a possessing spirit takes over Leo on the ship and Leo begins to open fire on the Romans. The Romans are outraged on the Greeks for firing and the quest begins.

There quest then begins with the search for Baccus god of whine who has experience fighting the 2 giants who the 7 demigods will soon fight. Baccus then tells the 7 to go to Charleston. When the demigods make it to Charleston they meet Aphrodite who talks to the girl demigods for a bit until the Romans arrive attacking the group. Annabeth then goes another way into a cave where she finds a hint of a future enemy she will fight. The 7 then leave and reach the ocean where Chirons brother lives. A giant monster shrimp attacks the Argo 2 and Hazel, Leo, and Frank fall into the water. The 3 try to receive help for the coming war from Chiron's brother. Later the 7 reach near Hercules who says that Piper and Jason must get a horn from a former enemy and if they don't bring it in time he will destroy the ship. Piper and Jason get the horn but instead attack show more Hercules with the horn and the Argo 2 escapes. Once the 7 demigods reached Rome they went into groups with Annabeth searching for the Athena statue, Piper, Jason, and Percy fought Otis and Ephialtes and Leo, Hazel, and Frank searched for Nico. Annabeth fights Arachne and stalls time until the others come. Jason and Percy defeat the giants while finding Nico along the way. Annabeth tricks Arachne and Arachne falls into Tartarus. The Argo 2 comes and get the statue but then Annabeth noticed something, Arachne had used her webs on her leg pulling Annabeth with her. Percy tries to save her but the 2 fall into Tartarus with Arachne. Annabeth and Percy then have to meet the group at the Doors of Death.

A Long Walk To Water is about a boy named Salva Dut and a girl named Nya. Salva's story takes place in 1985-2009 mainly during the civil war in Sudan. Nya's story takes place from 2008-2009.

Salva Dut's story starts in his village of Loun Ariik. But his life changes when soldiers invade his town and the soldiers are taking young men for the army. Salva fled the village with 15 or more people and the group had begun the walk across the desert to Kenya. Along the way he finds his uncle who was leading the group of hundreds. While they took a break another village killed his uncle leaving Salva to lead the group. The group had finally made it to a camp in Ethiopia where Salva stayed in for 6 years. The Ethiopian government closed down the camp forcing Salva to begin another long walk. Salva led another group known as the lost boys of Sudan. Salva finally made it to another refugee camp in Kenya which took a year and a half to get to. Salva spent 5 years here until it was announced that 3,000 out of 100,000 were able to go to America. 6 years later Salva received an email from his cousin who said that Salva's father was still alive in a hospital. Salva then came back to America and created a foundation called Water For Sudan. This group helps build wells for villages in need of water.

Nya's story is about how she has to walk 8 hours a day to get water for her family. Nya never went to school because only boys can. Nya's sister Akeer gets sick by the muddy water but the show more nearest hospital was 300 miles away. Luckily a man organizes a program raise money to build a well in her village. Meaning once the well is built she'll be able to go to school. The man is suppose to be Salva but in reality Nya's story is fictional but Salva's is true.

The story begins in a post apocalyptic world where much of the Earth is covered in water. But the only region mentioned in the book is North America and the new nation that was created out of the gone United States was the nation of Panem. The Capital is the futuristic city that controls all of Panem and its people. Since The Capital controls the people of Panem they can take people from these small communities called "districts". That's where the protagonist comes in Katniss Everdeen who is from 1 out of the 12 districts, she is from district 12. The Capital then comes into each of the districts to take a boy and a girl through a lottery for an annual event know as the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a event that has 24 kids ranging from 12 to 18 years of age. The one person who wins, lives. Katniss's sister Prim is chosen for this event and since Katniss knows she is too young she volunteers as tribute. In the Hunger Games from District 12 is Katniss and her former school mate Peeta Mellark who she remembers as the boy who gave her bread in the rain. Before they start they are being trained by district 12 former victor of the Hunger Games Haymitch Abernathy. Once they all enter The Capital they are being hosted on a television show hosted by Caesar Flickerman . Haymitch had told Katniss and Peeta that if they wanted the games to be much easier they needed sponsors. So on the show they are acting as if they both had an undying love for each other which wins The Capital show more on their side.

The Hunger Games have begun with more than half dead the first day. Peeta and Katniss both lose each other with Peeta staying alive through an alliance. Katniss wonders through the forest alone with no food or water. Katniss then finds an ally of her own named Rue from District 11 of agriculture. Later more into the game Rue is killed and Katniss kills the other tribute. Katniss puts her on a bed of flowers and sings to her fallen friend. Much more days into the game the Gamemakers change the rules so that two people from the same district can win. Katniss now looking for Peeta finds him camouflaged and injured. Katniss then heals him a bit and acts romantic to him gaining them items from the sponsors. In the end the Gamemakers change the rules yet again so that there can only be one winner. Katniss with some nightlock berries (which are very poisonous) which she gives to Peeta attempting to eat them. The Gamermakers stop them allowing them to both win the 74th Hunger Games.

In my opinion I thought this was a very fun book to read and was very interesting and full of suspense in the end of each chapter. The book only had some boring parts but most of the book kept me reading making me want to know what happens next. show less

The story of Li Lun, Lad of Courage begins with Li Lun hiding behind a tree stump. Li Lun is hiding behind the tree stump because he is afraid of the ocean. Every kid and their father are preparing for a fishing voyage. Once a boy were to reach the age of ten they would have to go on the voyage, Li Lun resist to go. Li Lun is then found by his father Teng Lun. Teng Lun and Li lun get into a fight. After the fight Teng Lun tells Li Lun that he must climb to the top of Lao Shan and plant seven rice seeds and Li Lun can only come back if he has brought seven times more seeds. Li Lun then prepares his journey at his house in the village of Three Firs. Li Lun lives here with his three younger brothers and a baby sister, two cats, and three ducks. His mother was packing his food and clothing. While she does this Li Lun wonders how to grow rice and his mother tells him that Sun Ling might know. Sung Ling tells him that he must grow the rice for one hundred and twenty days. Li Lun says goodbye and starts his journey. During his trip Li Lun tries to feel brave and proud. Li Lun then finds a cave before dark and finds that it is quite lonely. When morning rose Lin Lun started planting the seeds and placing the soil Sun Ling has given him. During his long waiting of growing the rice he goes through many challenges.

First challenge is that there were many seagulls wanting the rice. Second there were many rats who wanted the seeds. Later Li Lun woke up and found his flag he had show more placed to scare birds was ripped and that two plants were eaten by rats. As Li Lun protected the seeds a priest came giving him the other piece of the flag. Later problems were that many of his food had mildew, which he had later found a solution to this problem. The next problem was a drought which he nearly had to go back and forth for fresh water and between each time animals ate away at the rice. Leaving only one stalk left Li Lun quickly harvest it and took it to the church for the priest had said he would show the people what Li Lun had done. In the end the priest showed the people that Li Lun was a brave boy and that since rice was able to grow on the island he would make the church a rice field. In the end the father had nothing to say. I thought this book was entertaining and it has an interesting story. show less

The story first starts out with an old man named Santiago and how he was in sea for 84 days without catching a fish. This is considered highly unlucky and the boy Manolin who is his apprentice is not allowed to fish with him. The parents of Manolin wish for him to fish with luckier and more skilled fishermen but Manolin is dedicated to the old man. Manolin later brings food in the beginning of the first night and says he does this every night. Manolin would usually bring food, fishing gear, and would discuss a lot about American baseball. Manolin's favorite player is Joe DiMaggio and Santiago states that Joe DiMaggio's father was a fisherman. Santiago then tells Manolin that he will go fishing in the morning and he believes his unlucky streak is near its end. Santiago is in the water now for 85 days and in the afternoon a great marlin takes his bait. Santiago is then unable to pull this great fish so he stays there making sure it does not escape. While in 2 nights with this fish he refers to the fish as his brother and how the fish has dignity and pride. The fish finally gets tired and the old man is to but he gathered his remaining strength and when the marlin went up in the air he stabbed it with his harpoon.

As he leaves thinking about how he may use the fish the marlin's blood leaves a trail. This attracted the first shark a mako shark and fighting this shark he lost his harpoon. Santiago kept losing all his makeshift weapons but once he fought 6 sharks the sharks show more kept coming eating away the whole marlin. Santiago comes back tired and falls asleep on his bed. Other fishermen measure the marlin thinking it was a shark. Manolin came into the room giving Santiago coffee and a newspaper. In the end Santiago dreamed about lions in a beach in Africa. This book was pretty good but there was some information I wanted to know. show less

The author starts the book with the protagonist Jonas seeing a plane in the sky. This is unusual for anything from the outside to come near. The reason for this being strange is that Jonas lives in a community where everything is the same. A group of people centuries ago chose if they wanted to be different like today's world, or be the same going through a event called Sameness Day. This is not mentioned in the book until later about Sameness Day. Later Jonas goes to school with his best friend Asher. Jonas came back home that night. Every night each family unit would do a ritual called sharing of feelings. The father brings up his feelings about a new child he has to take care of, the father's job is a caretaker in the community. The next morning the family does another ritual about the dreams they had the night before. Jonas later goes to the House of the Old, this is where the elderly go to be taken care of. Jonas volunteers for service hours for his future job, Jonas works with his crush Fiona. There is a ceremony where the community names the new babies, Jonas's father receives the name of the child he receives, his name is Gabriel. When the father receives the child it is not his son or daughter. All the ceremonies are held on the same day. There are thirteen ceremonies one for the naming of each child, and the ceremonies 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and 12. Each ceremony is the ages the ages go up to 12. As you age on up you gain special privileges and once you reach 12 show more years of age you receive your first job, this is Jonas's ceremony. Jonas's little sister is a seven going to become an eight. Asher is called for his future job as Assistant Recreation Director. Fiona sitting next to Jonas is called next, she is going to be a Caretaker of the Old as her future job. Jonas is waiting to be called next but then is skipped. The ceremony goes on and Jonas is wondering if he did something wrong. Jonas was called at the end of the ceremony because he had a special job, he was to become the Receiver of Memory. The receiver of memory would receive memories of the past from The Giver. The reason this job is important is that the "scientist" who invented sameness do not want the community to have feelings, such as love pain,suffering, and true personalities. The feelings are in the memories that The Receiver must receive from The Giver.Everybody in the crowd is shocked because having a receiver is very rare and they usually occur every couple of decades.Jonas is to start on his assignment the next day. When he gets to the Givers room, The Giver first gives Jonas a memory to get started. The memory is about sledding. Jonas first thinks that having these memories aren't that bad but The Giver says that's not even the hard ones. Jonas later learns about pain when he receives a memory about an elephant's tusks getting hacked off.Jonas even learned pain because The Giver had given him the memory of a sunburn. Then Jonas said he was ready for true pain. The Giver gave Jonas the memory of the sled again but this time Jonas had twisted and broke his legs, scraped his face, and vomited. The last memory of pain was war which terrified Jonas. Jonas the next day learns the memory and feelings of love. Jonas later learns of the receiver before him who requested a release from the community.

Jonas is later shown a video of the last release. The release was held by Jonas's father. Jonas's dad was doing a release on an infant, the release is not ever shown to kids but only to adults. Jonas sees his father inject poison into the infant. Jonas learns that release is to kill the person and not to leave the community. Jonas was devastated that his father killed an infant. Jonas wanted to stay in the Annex room with The Giver tonight, he says okay. Jonas discuses with The Giver for a bit, Jonas then decides he wants to leave the community. Jonas asks The Giver to come along, but The Giver says I have another place to go. The Giver then admits that the last receiver Rosemary was his daughter and when The Giver passes away he wants to be with his daughter. Jonas comes home learning that his father is planning to do a release on Gabriel. Jonas later kidnaps Gabriel and leaves the community with him. Jonas bikes his way toward the land called Elsewhere. Jonas and Gabriel are starving and end up climbing a snowy mountain, since Elsewhere is located on the very top. Jonas hears music and that is when the story ends. show less

The Mockingjay to me was a great book but this is a summary of some of the pros and cons, and a quick summary of the book. The book starts out kind of slow, leaving very little suspense after each chapter. Then when the story gets toward the middle of the book the action happens. The book ends in many questions like, what is going to happen after that or what happens to Katniss (the protagonist). The book's main flaws were that in the beginning the author was trying to make up for all the questions for the book before, which made up a third of the book, making the book start out slow. My favorites of the book were the plots and secrets of each character.

The Summary: The book first starts out with Katniss visiting her old home in district 12. In the book before, the enemies from the Capitol of Panem, drop fire bombs on the district. Katniss then goes back to her new district of 13. District 13 is the main rebellion head quarters. At this point this is where the boring and slow part of the story takes place. In district 13 Katniss meats up with old friends. Katniss makes a deal with district thirteen's president, Coin. Coin and Katniss make a deal that when the war ends Katniss gets to kill the President Snow of the capitol and give immunity to selected victors of the Hunger Games. Katniss is then the symbol of the rebellion and tries to represent the rebellion fight for morale. Katniss is then sent to district 8 with her childhood friend Gale, Soldier Boggs, and the show more insects which are her camera crew. Katniss then fights the Capitol planes and makes the first stand against the Capitol. After they come back to district 13 talking about their success. They figure out that Peeta a boy who won the Hunger Games with Katniss in the first boook, Is now being tortured live. Peeta secretly tells district 13 a secret message, saying that the capitol is going to bomb district 13. Distric 13 is saved from the bombs thanks to Peeta. Katniss goes through some dramatic stress about Peeta and says she can't do this anymore. Haymitch tells her to get it together, so she goes on. District thirteen's leaders send out a rescue team for Peeta and the other victors. District 13 rescues Peeta. Peeta has been tortured by the Capitol so much he has lost recollection of his memories. The Capitol used a method called hijack which involves using venom to make him remember only bad memories of people, these memories are focused on Katniss. Katniss is scared for Peeta and wonders what can she do for him. The next mission for Katniss and the rebellion is to go to district 2. District 2 is the last district not to join the rebellion. District 2 supplies the Capitol with soldiers and the rebellion sends troops to attack a highly influenced Capitol base called the Nut. The rebellion attacks the Nut with a plan created from Gale, the plan is to blow up part of the mountain causing a land slide. This flushes the people out into the last exit. That's where Katniss comes in, she is there and sees a district 2 villager injured with a gun. The man asks her why shouldn't he kill her. Katniss says there isn't a reason you shouldn't. The man drops the gun, but someone else shoots her. Katniss is then sent to district 13 and is badly wounded at the spline. Katniss later shares a room with Johanna another victor. Katniss and Johanna do some military training for the war. Once Katniss recovers she is sent on another mission with Gale,Boggs, Leeg 1,Leeg2,Cressida,Finnick,Homes,Mesalla, Mitchell,Castor,Pollux and Jackson are on the team. This team is known as Star Squad. Once they are there at the mission checkpoint they search around for pods which are traps.They look for these pods with a certain device called a Holo. Leeg 2 later steps on a pod and blows up. Peeta is then sent to replace her, the whole Star Squad is shocked about his arrival and Boggs is mad at President Coin for doing this. As they are filming Katniss, Boggs steps on a pod and blows up. Before Boggs dies he transfers the Holo to Katniss. As the squad runs from the trapped area Peeta goes crazy and tries to attack Katniss. Mitchel then tries to help Katniss but Peeta throws Mitchel into a pod and Mitchel dies. They all then try to make camp in an old apartment. The group decides they should try to assassinate President Snow. As they go down into the underground to go to the Capitol, they make camp again. The group hears howling of mutts and Leeg 1 and Jackson stay to hold them off, they die. As the squad runs Mesalla is melted by a pod. The group continues to run and Homes and Castor are torn by the mutts. The remaining squad climbs a ladder up to the Capitol, but Finnick is caught and killed by the mutts. Cressida an former resident of the Capitol leads the squad to an old friends house. The friend of Cressida named Tigris shelters them. Katniss and Gale go out to assassinate Snow but then as they walk through a crowd of refugees, they see them gunned down by the rebels. Gale is captured and Katniss is in front of Snow's mansion. Fire bombs drop on a shelter full of children and Primm, Katniss's sister is blown up by the second bombs. The mutts followed Katniss and they are all set on fire, with Katniss being ripped by the fire mutts. Katniss wakes up in a hospital with major injuries. The rebels won the war with the capture of President Snow. With President Coin as the new leader of the Region of Panem. As Coin says her speech she is then shot by Katniss's bow. Katniss tries to kill her self with poison but the rebels caught her and detained her. The story ends with Katniss talking to Petta, Peeta asks do you love me real or not, Katniss says real. I thought this book was quite interesting, this book made me feel suspense where I read it like "What's going to happen next"? This is my summary of Artemis Fowl. The book starts out with a boy named Artemis Fowl who wants to reclaim his family fortune, which was long lost. Artemis first starts his adventure by kidnapping an old fairy.
Artemis kidnaps this fairy with his most trust worthy partner named Butler and he is a butler. Artemis kidnaps her for a magical book in a different language. Artemis takes the book and takes it home. After his side of the story It shows another story of Captain Holly Short. Holly a leprechaun, is judge by her boss Julius Root for failing a mission and is thinking of demoting her for that, plus for being a woman. Later on Holly encounters a troll which kills everyone in a battle and Holly is dispatched to defeat it, which she does but with a lot of casualties. Then Artemis's side where he tries to translate the book with a language translator, so he can find the location and history of leprechauns. As they do this Holly is low on magic so she is dispatched to Paris where she refreshes her magic. Artemis has plans of capturing a leprechaun so he finds Holly and kidnaps her. Holly is later taken by Artemis and Butler, the other leprechauns try to look for her. The leprechauns dispatch a troll to attack the Artemis mansion. Butler later encounters the troll and loses. Holly escapes but feeling sympathy for Butler she heals him with her magic. show more The troll is then defeated and Artemis Fowl rethinks his plan. Artemis then puts Holly up for ransom of hundreds of gold bars. Commander Root gives him the bars of gold, but has a plan on dropping a bomb which kills all living organisms. Artemis knowing this he gives Butler, Artemis's mother, Butlers's sister, and himself poison wine, which kill them for a few minutes and then they wake up. The bomb is dropped and they all wake up alive and end of book 1. show less
