Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard is about 4 girls who are connected by their old BFF, Alison (Ali) DiLaurentis. Their names are Spencer, Aria, Emily, and Hanna. For 7th graders they have pretty big secrets, all of which Ali knows. They are all having a sleepover when Ali disappeared. Ali was a manipulative queen bee, but they all loved her.
Fast forward to three years later when Ali is still missing. Aria moved to Iceland after Ali vanished, and Hanna became popular. Spencer and Emily matured. Aria moves back to Rosewood. (Where they are)
The girls (minus Ali, who is presumed dead) start getting threatening messages sent by someone named A . They all assume it’s Ali. They do not tell each other (because they are not friends anymore) A reveals their secrets and ruins their lives. Their secrets, by the way, are: Emily is lesbian. She kissed Ali once, and was secretly dating Maya St. Germain.
Aria kisses a guy at a bar, and he turns out to be her teacher. They are secretly illegally dating. She also knows about her Dad’s affair with one of his students.
Hanna was bulimic. She used to be fat but when Ali left she changed. She and her also popular new BFF Mona Vanderwaal shoplift often.
Spencer… Oh Spence. She kisses her perfect older sisters (Melissa) boyfriend in 7th and then has a crush on her current boyfriend Wren.
A also dangles over them all a terrifying group incident called The Jenna Thing, which is revealed in the second book. It was a great read! It’s show more mature though, and can be pretty violent.

I gave this book a 4 ½ star rating because it was everything I love in a book. It had romance, mystery, and had me unable to put this book down. I took half off because I didn’t know what the Jenna Thing secret was the whole book. At least the author, Sara Shepard, spilled the beans pretty quickly in the second book. You should read this book because it is very suspenseful and cliff hanger-y, which I usually hate but these books were so good I didn’t mind. The book is mature, and if it were a movie I would rate it PG-13. Read it- you won’t regret it! -A

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, of District 12, is the main character of the story. Each year, as punishment for the now demolished District 13's attempted rebellion, two children in each district are chosen by lottery to fight each other to the death in an arena. The event is called the Hunger Games and is televised for everyone in the Capitol to see; the winning tribute is given food and a life of ease for themselves and their families, along with presents of food and resources for their district. Katniss ends up volunteering for the role of tribute to the Games after her little sister Prim is drawn in the lottery. Peeta, a baker's son that Katniss knows through school,(and he saved her life) is also drawn to fight in the Games. Katniss and Peeta are whisked away to the Capitol to fight other children in the artificial landscape created for the arena. In a twist of events, it is revealed that Peeta is in love with Katniss, as is Gale, a boy back in District 12 whom Katniss hunted with regularly. The love triangle gives added interest to the story line and to the Games themselves as Katniss and all the other tributes fight for their lives.

With nothing more than a fistful of cornmeal in his stomach, a small pile of once-forgotten science textbooks, and an armory of curiosity and determination, he embarked on a daring plan to bring his family a set of luxuries that only two percent of Malawians could afford and what the West considers a necessity—electricity and running water. Using scrap metal, tractor parts, and bicycle halves, William forged a crude yet operable windmill, an unlikely contraption and small miracle that eventually powered four lights, complete with homemade switches and a circuit breaker made from nails and wire. A second machine turned a water pump that could battle the drought and famine that loomed with every season.

You should read the boy who harnessed the wind because William With nothing more than a fistful of cornmeal in his stomach, a small pile of once-forgotten science textbooks, and an armory of curiosity and determination, he embarked on a daring plan to bring his family a set of luxuries that only two percent of Malawians could afford and what the West considers a necessity—electricity and running water!
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Twilight is about a girl named Bella Swan who moves to Forks, Washington (a real place). At her new school she meets the beautiful and mysterious Edward Cullen. She is in her school parking lot and almost gets run over but Edward, who was all the way on the other side of the road, stops the car. He leaves handprints on the bumper! Bella confronts him, he denies everything, and with the help of her friend Jacob Black’s stories, realizes he is a vampire. They fall in love. It is a really great book if you want to know how it ends read it!

You should read Twilight because it is a popular, intriguing, romantic, modern day vampire tale. It is a book (a series!) that is long enough to last you a while. I really enjoyed this book, partly because I love vampires, but mostly because it has a great plot. Many people like Twilight, but some say that Bella was objectified by Edward and Jacob (basically her love interests), and sat around while the men did all the work. This is untrue of the books. I don’t know about the movies- I don’t want to talk about the movies. *barfs*.
Crazy Rich Asians is pretty much what is sounds like. It’s about a woman, (Rachel )and her rich boyfriend whos family are all crazy rich asians and don't approve him dating a quote unquote “peasant.” Rachel’s boyfriend, Nick, is best friends with Colin Coo. Colin is getting married to another famous person and they are both INSANELY rich. Rachel is going with Nick and the fam doesn't like that. Nick’s mom basically teams up with a bunch of other crazy rich asians to break them up. She gets them all convinced that Rachel is a gold digger. Needless to say, she isn’t.

You should read Crazy Rich Asians because it is a great novel. It is a great novel because it’s the perfect combination of romance, comedy, and craziness. #richpeopleproblems! I only wish I worried about whether or not I should ride to a party in my Bugatti Veyron or my Lamborghini Veneno Roadster. Rachel, the main charecter
The Hate U Give is the title of a book about a black girl who sees her black friend get shot by a white cop. The title is inspired by Tupac’s THUG LIFE ( The HAte U Give Little Infants F!@#s Everybody.) The book is basically about injustice. Starr, the main character, lives in a ghetto and she is driving back to her house when the cop pulls them over. Khalil (the boy who got shot) is asked to show his registration and stuff. He does. He opens the door to ask if Starr is okay and reaches for a hairbrush. The cop shoots him. Starr is scarred and it takes her awhile to find her voice.

You should read The Hate U Give because it is a good book. I think that the author wrote the book to educate society about the injustice and racism that is still happening. I hate it when people joke about that stuff because it’s real and it’s an issue. It might not be for them, but all the people living in the ghetto are still being shown discrimination. Starr, the main character, lives ina ghetto and that is why her friend got shot. Because the white cop just assumed, because her friend was black and lived in the ghetto, that he was, to put it simply, a threat and a drug dealer, he shot him. The book follows Starr, who must learn to speak up.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the sequel to the first Harry Potter novel in which a young boy learns he is a wizard and entrances us with his story as we follow him through his adventures at his school, Hogwarts, a school for witchcraft and wizardry. In The Chamber of Secrets, Harry is coming back from an event with his best friends, Ron and Hermione, (Who are also magical) when he sees an ominous message on the wall, painted in blood- I mean red paint. The message reads, “ THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS HAS BEEN OPENED. ENEMIES OF THE HEIR, BEWARE.” Hung on a torch brackett over a pool of water by her tail, we see a cat ( Mrs. Norris) who is seemingly frozen- or maybe petrified…
In history class, Hermione asks Professor Binns about the legend of the Chamber of Secrets. Professor Binns tells the eager class that the Chamber of Secrets is a hidden room that is rumored to be hidden in the school, and one day the heir of Salazar Slytherin ( The founder of the “evil” house) would unleash the beast within to purge the school of those unworthy to study magic. Salazar and most Slytherins believe that these unworthy are muggle-borns.
After this stunning bit of news, Harry has a sneaking suspicion that this legend might not be so… Untrue. Harry is now hearing voices in the walls, but he only tells Ron and Hermione who are not quite sure what to make of this.
Then something happens.
Harry is walking and he sees, to his horror, that Justin Fletchley is stiff. It turns show more out, he’s petrified. After a series of petrifications, the School is in great danger.
Then Hermione gets petrified. Harry and Ron are devastated. They realize that only magical students who come from a non magical family( muggles) are petrified. Oh, and oh yeah, Ron tries to curse Malfoy because he called Hermione a “M-U-D-B-L-O-O-D”. This is a bad word in the wizarding community. Anyways, Ron and Harry overhear that Ron’s little sister, Ginny, was taken into the Chamber of Secrets- along with a new message, “ Her skeleton will lie in the chamber forever” At this, Harry and Ron go try and save her. They also drag along Professor Lockhart, the stuck up, fake, useless, macho, Defense against The Dark Arts teacher.A few minutes before this, Harry found a note in Hermione’s (petrified) hand that said facts about the Basilisk, a giant snake that can kill with a glance. All the petrified students weren't dead because none of them looked the Basilisk in the eye. On the note, Hermione had written “Pipes”. Harry and Ron (mostly Harry) realize that the monster in the Chamber is a basilisk and it's been using the pipes to get around. Harry , Ron and Lockhart go to an old bathroom and and find the entrance and go in. Harry is separated from the rest of the group and ventures on.
Harry gets to the end and learns that the diary is behind this. He fight with the diarys owner, Tom Marvolo Riddle, (Young Voldemort) and the basilisk. All on a time limit- of Ginny’s life. He wins, almost dies but then doesn't, and saves the day yet again. If you want to know all the deets of this awesome book then you should read it.

You should read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets because it is a great book and in my opinion, holds everything a book needs. Well…. Except romance but the kids are 12 so give them a break. A few reasons you should give this book a try are these; Well, first of all, if you read and enjoyed the first book, then I know you're thirsting for more. This book is even better than the first one! The book has mystery, suspense, magic, and is appropriate for most muggles! Mostly, it depends on who you are. I started reading Harry Potter when I was in Second Grade; I finished in 4th grade because my Mother insisted on reading the last book to us because “They were too scary.” Or something. I’m not sure, but I thought and think that I should be allowed to read it whenever I want and now I do. That is why you should read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
