I had reached an advanced reader copy and I appreciate the format of the book along with the stories that are told throughout. I think formatting wise some transitions to different stories and life experiences felt a little out of place in the flow of the memoir. But overall, I throughly enjoyed the book especially as someone from NYC myself!
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.
I feel the book was very well written however, and the mysteries twists and turns were very well drawn out. I think I would've appreciated some perspective from the fake Delilah rather than everything being focused from Leo's perspective. Otherwise the book is a easy sit down read and easily digestible!

I ADORED THIS BOOK! I could not put this book down and it kept me wanting more. I loved the way the book was formatted into interview style and the different stories and perspectives to one situation, just kept me wanting more. I think the writing style kept in engaged and wanting to read more to see what happens next in the chain of events.
It was an okay read, I think the flipping back and forth from her pat life to her present was a wonderful way to keep you engaged in the book and understanding her motivations. I do know there are more books in the series, but it wasn't enough to keep me wanting to read more.

The book was actually very digestible and easy to read in two sittings. I will argue however that towards the end of the book it does become very wordy and it does become a bit repetitive in my opinion. But overall, great book to get into when learning more about the mafia and the gangsters of the 60-70s.
I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! I read it in one sitting and thought the premise of squid games and teenage girls was great, the reason for the 3 stars however even though it was finished in one sitting is the further building of the games. Like who won the previous games and the aftermath from the discovery of the games could've been nice.
I thought the book was great compared to the historical counterpart. The romance between the two real life characters in history was fascinating to see play out in historical fashion. I thought that it should be drawn out more instead of being minted to just a novel. I would've loved to read about the twist of helene marrying the max or the familial breakdown between her and the mother in law because historically sisi has her first two children taken from her and she doesn't get to raise them.
The book was overall okay compared to the hype it was given previously. I feel as though the plot moves slowly and the buildup to the end was lackluster. I feel as though more character development should've been done for Mother Eve.

I loved the book after reading it back recently especially with the suspense and their twists and turns. It can be a slower read due to the fact it's suspenseful and building up to the twist.
