Riviting, haunting and heartbreaking. Found it very hard to put this book down. Cleverly written; the triangulation of how two points come to meet.
Separated by the Border: A Birth Mother, a Foster Mother, and a Migrant Child's 3,000-Mile Journey by Gena Thomas
This book is complex, emotional, missional and most definitely worth reading in a small group It will cause debate. Hopefully, it will open hearts and eyes. I did not give five stars because I felt the author intentionally left out details when it did not serve her purpose. Otherwise, this book is for moms, Foster families, privileged white Americans, Christians, anyone interested in social justice.
Picked this book up based on the back cover description which mentioned the quilts used for messages. In actuality, this book only mentioned those quilts in one paragraph. I did like the history side of this book. Am not a fan of the back and forth in time format. That's just me. Overall, I liked the history side of the book but was disappointed that the very reason I purchased the book was not covered in any depth.
