Review: This is a good example of realistic fiction because the girl in this story could have been any girl in the early 18th century whose parents choose to leave her ospedalo (orphanage). Catarina’s parents knew their daughter was talented and had a wonderful gift. By leaving her to be raised as an orphan she would get the training she needed to be a great singer.

Review: This is a good example of a biography, because it is based on a true story about a James Smith and how his dog helped him to escape from slavery. This boy takes the journey of his life, but to save his life. The relationship between boy and dog are part of what makes this biography exciting and touching.

Review: This is a good example of realistic fiction, because Philipok wants to go to school so bad that he follows his brother. This is something I could see other kids do if given the chance like Philipok. Being so young and traveling on your own to school could be a little scary, which would be true for most kids. However, the excitement of learning and being in school with his brother sounds much more fun so the journey is worth it.

He went on the biggest adventure of his life that led to one of the biggest science expeditions leading to new territory.

This graphic novel shows her journey from her beginning lessons to her growth as a dancer over the years. Dancing was a part of the story, but Siena’s family life played into the picture as well her relationship with her instructors and peers.

Setting: The story takes place on a farm that is owned by a black family during the early-mid 1900’s. The setting is significant because African American’s during this time were slaves and rarely owned their own land, so it is significant that the Logan family lived, worked and fought to keep the land that had been part of their family for years.

Review: This is a good example of multicultural literature, because the book illustrates the changes and challenges that took place in a family’s life when slavery and discrimination were acceptable in communities. These families lived in the same community, but were from two unique cultures.

It is a story that is based in the ocean and the sea creatures, but these creatures do not take on human characteristics, the amount of animals and how the numbers during the story change and take on new forms, which add the educational portion of the story.

The pictures are very graphic and the story is very touching. There were people that lived but there were more that died. This book is creates a realistic perspective of what the people might have gone through when the atomic bomb fell on the home.

Review: This is a good example of a fairytale because there is a happy ending to the love story. This story has been told over and over again. I never get tired of hearing the different interpretations of Cinderella; some are more modern and other more old fashion. Each story and illustrations that go with it make me look at the same story in a different light.

Review: This is a good example of a biography, because it is a true story written about a little girl named Mercedes who wrote a very sweet note to Lt. Halvorsen about wanting him to find her house and drop her some candy. This story was enduring because of how WWII affected their family and how this one experience gave a little girl hope.
