David McKay was well known in Australia through motor racing from the 50's onwards and notably bringing the first Jaguar Mk1 3.4 Jaguar to Australia as well as forming the Kangaroo team comprising of himself, Tom Sulman and Sydney dentist les Cosh racing Aston martins in England prior to bringing the cars back to Australia. Also in 1968 organising the running of the 3 Sydney Telegraph entered Holden Monaro's in the London Sydney rally.
