I couldn't put this book down but there were times when I almost wished I hadn't picked it up. It was creepy and disturbing more so than anything. I enjoyed it but I'm not sure why, and I almost feel like I shouldn't have liked it as much as I did. Its a good quick read if you don't mind more than a few messed up things in a one book.. all inflicted on children.....by children.

This book is so far my favorite of 2014 and probably 2013 as well. I really loved it, it seems slow at first as Fforde creates this extremely detailed world, but it gives you time to get to know the characters. Soon your wondering yourself why do things have to be this way and before you know it your sympathizing with a character who is asking the same questions as you. The whole story is really a step up for the ending, it wouldn't be nearly as emotionally powerful without the connection you develop with these people and their world. It is a must read for any one really, whether you like science fiction or not, this book has something for everyone.
This book was a surprisingly quick and enjoyable read. I picked up on sunday morning and finished it by tuesday morning. It was a fun story and not poorly written. Very creative characters and settings. I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did, and often found it hard to put down. Its worth the time it takes to read.

Quite enjoyable book, really cute, fast paced and no nonsense. Ended up getting a tattoo from the line "Schools and rules are tools for fools I don't give two mules for rules." really loved that bit. Worth a read, a quick read too.
I had a very love hate relationship with this book, I heard such great things about it and it just didn't really live up to my expectations. I think my biggest problem was how drawn out it was. I just felt like everything took ten times the amount of reasonable time needed to explain. I think I must have missed something that other people see in this book. It really did have a few very insightful lines in it and the plot line was actually very good, but some of it felt like the author was trying to make a long complicated book out of a fairly short story. There was a lot of history in the beginning which was actually quite hard for me to get through but when it shifted back to the actual story I couldn't put it down. I just wish it had spent more time on the actual story and not made itself lead heavy in detail. The vocabulary used though is great and its beautifully written, just not for me.

I've been an avid watcher of the television show based on these comics since it started. I was happy to find out that the show intentionally takes a different route from the comics, so as not to prevent people from reading them. I just finished this comic and will say that I am pleased with it. The characters are recognizable enough from the T.V. characters I'm used to and the story is oddly enough less frustrating and more fluid. I guess the television medium requires everything to be dramatic and drawn out. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes the show.
