An intriguing thought provoking story that causes the reader to examine the roles that race, socioeconomic class, and gender play as a young black man working as a financial adviser is involved in a number of unethical situations in the workplace with older white women. While the topic and characters were very different from Azrieli’s other novels, this is written in the same captivating manner. Each character is incredibly well developed, and you learn the history that has shaped them.
Avraham Azrieli has done it again. He has a truly unique way of telling a story routed in religion that captures the reader’s attention and develops a genuine care for the characters. I’ve become an avid reader of Azrieli’s books. While each story is distinct, each novel draws the reader in and develops a genuine care for the characters. Christmas for Joshua examines issues of religious conversion, judgment, and acceptance.
If you read The Jerusalem Inception, this sequel is the resolution you were waiting for. Just like the first novel, The Jerusalem Assassin is a captivating thriller with complex characters in complicated situations. It’s a very thoughtful read, and an enjoyable one that teaches about history by using historical events as a background for an intriguing fictional story. The author is truly talented and can tell a story in such a unique and captivating way.
Captivating, Complex Thriller
The author has a unique way of telling a thrilling story in a manner that deliberately teaches the reader historical background information. This was an educational read as well as an interesting one. The complex plot keeps you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommend
The Jerusalem Inception is a great, thought provoking read. This is the second book I’ve read by the author. Although it’s a very different plot, this book captured my attention as much as the first I read by him. I would highly recommend this book for anyone interested in history and war history. The story is fiction, but the background information is incredibly thorough and interesting. I learned a great deal of history about The Six Day War, which I previously really didn’t know anything about. The book is filled with symbolism, including the parallels between the city of Jerusalem and its struggles and history and the character of Jerusalem and his struggles and personal history. Highly recommend.
This was one of those books I just couldn't put down. The story is incredibly interesting, and the background information was clearly well researched. An entertaining story of a reporter's struggle to uncover and expose the truth, this book is incredibly thought provoking, examining issues surrounding religion, politics and morality in general. It keeps you on the edge of your seat as the story progresses and you learn each person's intentions and motivations. I'm glad I discovered this author, and look forward to reading more from him.
