The book Galax-Arena is a book that gives off excitement and mystery. This book was written by the author Gillian Rubinstein. It was written in 1995 and it is a science-fiction book. The book describes how three kids were kidnapped and were sent off to outer space. There, they were trained to perform in the Galax-Arena. Eventually, they discover there was a possibility to escape and they did.

The major events that happened in the book was when the children Peter, Joelle and Liana were kidnapped by a man called Hythe and they were sent off to space many miles away. There, they met the other children who were kidnapped before them and they were trained to do daring and dangerous stunts. After they were trained, they were forced to perform on a stage called Galax-Arena. The children were used to do stunts that put their lives to danger to the point that even some were killed. The stunts were used to increase the life of the old and wealthy people who supported the company called Genesis Five.
The message gained from the book is never give up hope no matter what. This is shown when Joelle was thrown into a cage to be a pet, she refused to give up and die. She willed herself to survive but she was really lonely because she didn’t have anyone to talk to. After Mariam was also thrown into the cage to become a pet, Joelle was ecstatic to have someone to talk to.

My favourite part was the time when Joelle sees a healthy fly buzzing around in the room. She stares at it in show more disbelief that it isn’t dead and that there are flies on Vexa. After thinking this over, she realizes that she was still on earth. The truth burnt in her mind and she found out that the clear wall between her and the alien was just plain glass not alien plastic. She then finds more evidence that she is on earth when she takes off a part of the costume the alien was wearing. She finds out that the alien was in fact a 119 year old lady named Emmeline. After discovering the truth, she goes and tries to help everyone escape by convincing them that they were on earth. . This part shows me that there is always hope as long as you believe in it and find the evidence.

I think that this book is very interesting. The book is very well written and very involving. The only part that was strange was the fake science. It is said that making the mind think that it is young helps lengthen your life. Overall, I think this book is very interesting and I recommend this book for all type of readers.
