I have this book, and have used it as a reference while working on two different 2nd generation Saturn SL sedans (1997 and 2000).

In most cases, it serves as an adequate reference. Assembly and disassembly instructions are clear and complete. Plenty of relevant illustrations are included. All necessary specifications are given in useful charts.

Very little troubleshooting help is available in this book, however, and it has no diagnosis flowcharts.

Most instructions are written assuming an early model 1st generation car. Only the most significant late-model changes are reflected in the text, usually as an aside. The S-series changed very little over it's 11 year run, but what few design revisions there were are usually overlooked in this book. This is typical for an unofficial repair manual, though.
